2023 Weller Millennium

As the third oldest operating distillery in the world, with roots dating back to 1773, Buffalo Trace Distillery (as it's known today) has been honing its craft since Kentucky was a wild, untamed frontier and the United States was just an idea. In the centuries that followed, the Distillery changed hands numerous times, but one thing always remained constant; it was a homeplace for the creation of authentic

At the turn of the millennium, the Distillery was amid a period of transformation once again and looked to its forebearers for inspiration. As a trailblazer in the industry, the distillation team chose to pay homage to W.L. Weller by setting aside some of the first whiskeys distilled in the new millennium for the sole purpose of creating this extraordinary innovation.

A blend of vintage straight bourbon and wheat whiskeys distilled in 2000, 2003, 2005 and 2006, Weller Millennium highlights the impact that wheat has on the whiskey's flavor: the softness imparted by the wheat creates a smoother, sweeter, more approachable expression. 2024 Buffalo Trace Prohibition Set

A five-bottle collection of whiskeys that honors the spirits legally produced at the distillery during Prohibition. The collection, set to launch in October, is a recreation of five Prohibition-era whiskeys that have, until now, been lost to time: Old Stagg, Golden Wedding, Three Features, Walnut Hill, and George T. Stagg Spiritus Frumenti.

From 1920 to 1933, the production, sale and transportation of alcohol was banned in the United States due to the ratification of the 18th amendment to the United States Constitution, an era known as Prohibition. Purchasing alcohol was only legal with a medical prescription. At the time, many doctors believed spirits to be a cure for a wide variety of ailments. As such, the U.S. Government granted licenses to six distilleries to bottle medicinal whiskey: one of those distilleries was the George T. Stagg Distillery in Frankfort, KY. Known today as Buffalo Trace Distillery, it is the longest continually-operating distillery in America.

Old Stagg

Originally distilled in honor of the distillery's former owner, George T. Stagg, Old Stagg actually replaced O.F.C. Bourbon as the distillery's flagship label. Bottled at barrel proof, uncut, and unfiltered, Old Stagg inspired other barrel-proof bourbon labels like Stagg and George T. Stagg. According to the brand, Old Stagg delivers aromas of oaky vanilla with a sweet, mellow palate of smooth vanilla and leather.

Golden Wedding

Bottled at 107 proof, Golden Wedding is a rye whiskey that dates back to 1869. Produced by Schenley Distilling at the Joseph S. Finch Distillery in Pennsylvania, Golden Wedding was physically bottled by both Schenley's and the George T. Stagg Distillery in Frankfort, Ky. during Prohibition. By the 1940s, production of Golden Wedding had been moved to Canada, and by the 20th century, it would cease to exist - until now. The brand says spirit carries heavy rye spice on the nose with a grainy, herbal palate boasting dill pickle notes and a smokey finish with a hint of banana.

Three Feathers

Three Feathers' roots stretch as far back as 1812 when it was initially advertised as a luxurious sipping rye, before it was transformed into a bonded whiskey and later a blended whiskey. Envisioned by Buffalo Trace master distiller Drew Mayville, the Prohibition Collection's recreation of the historic whiskey is bottled-in-bond at 100 proof with vanilla and charred oak aromas, a tropical and stone fruit palate, and caramel and cocoa finish.

Walnut Hill

Distilled to 90 proof, Walnut Hill is a high-rye bourbon that the brand says conveys citrus aromas and a smokey, woodsy palate with sweet molasses. The spirit celebrates the bourbon of the same name that was produced at the distillery during Prohibition with oversight handled by Albert Blanton himself, the distillery's then president.

George T. Stagg Distillery Spiritus Frumenti

Coming in at 110 proof, George T. Stagg Distillery Spiritus Frumenti is the booziest of the Prohibition Collection's offerings. Literally translating from Latin to "spirit of the grain," Spiritus Frumenti was the generic name used to label medicinal whiskey during Prohibition. The brand says the wheated bourbon provides caramelized brown sugar aromas with a fruity, floral palate of cherry and oak with a vanilla and citrus finish.

Taylor, Jr. Barrels are evaluated and selected to create a perfect blend of distinctive character that is like no other. Colonel Edmund Haynes Taylor, Jr. is widely considered one of the founding fathers of the bourbon industry, fighting for the Bottled-in-Bond Act of 1897, nearly three decades after he purchased what is now called Buffalo Trace Distillery. During his time, Taylor implemented several innovative methods still used today, including climate controlled aging warehouses. Many of the barrels selected for the E.H. Taylor, Jr. Single Barrel are aged in Warehouse C, which was built by Taylor in 1881 and proven to be an excellent aging warehouse. Each barrel is hand-picked and Bottled in Bond at 100 proof to honor its namesake.

The aroma carries lightly toasted oak, with dried figs and butterscotch. One sip brings flavors of sweetness balanced with tobacco and dark spices. The finish is just long enough to prepare the palate for another sip. The bottle itself is a likeness to Colonel Taylor's original design used over a century ago.

E.H. Taylor, Jr. Straight Rye

Straight Rye Whiskey has experienced a strong resurgence in the American whiskey landscape, yet Colonel Edmund Haynes Taylor, Jr. was making this style more than 100 years ago. This small batch, Bottled-in-Bond 100 proof straight rye whiskey pays tribute to the former Distillery owner with a unique rye whiskey reminiscent of days long past.

An altogether different recipe and profile than Sazerac Rye, this recipe contains just rye and malted barley, no corn. The result is an aroma full of dried fruit, black pepper, and a touch of fresh dill. A small sip brings an array of flavors both sweet and savory with a terrific balance of dark spices and subtle caramel overtones. The finish is especially pleasing with an oaky dryness that lingers just long enough.

E.H. Taylor, Jr. Barrel Proof

Crafted from hand-selected barrels, this bourbon is bottled directly from the barrel; uncut and unfiltered at more than 125 proof. It reflects the way whiskey was produced in the days before Prohibition, when Edmund Haynes Taylor, Jr. was the owner of Buffalo Trace Distillery. Drawn from barrels aged in warehouses constructed over a century ago under Taylor's watchful eye, the taste is smooth, yet powerful and uncompromising, just like its namesake.

Knob Creek 12

Knob Creek 12 Year Straight Bourbon might be one of the best noses on a Knob Creek that I've encountered, and that includes the 25th anniversary and the 2001 limited edition. Initially, it's a bit burly with big woodshop notes and secondary aromas of split vanilla bean, ginger snaps, brown sugar, and a trace of candied apple. The lumber yard subsides as the whiskey opens, leveling off to reveal earthy notes of cigar box, wet tobacco, and cocoa powder, along with a touch of butterscotch pudding. The palate is on the lighter side, not nearly as rich as the nose suggests, but honeyed and mouth-coating nonetheless. Even with the softer profile, there's plenty to enjoy here with sweet oak, peanut brittle, and caramel candies. It's easy sipping for the proof with a subtle, warming heat and finishes medium-length and in classic fashion with toasted sugar, cinnamon, and a little flamed orange peel.

The 2024 release of the Heaven Hill Heritage Collection is an 18-year-old Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey. Bottled without chill filtering, this 120 proof Whiskey showcases our Bourbon mashbill of 78% corn, 10% rye and 12% malted barley. As noted on the label for added transparency, this year's release consists of 133 barrels that were produced in December 2005 and aged on the third floor of rickhouse 1I.

Named after Master Distiller Emeritus Elmer T. Lee at the Buffalo Trace Distillery, this American whiskey is hand selected and bottled to the taste and standards which were set forth by Elmer T. Lee. He was often credited with starting the revival of single barrel bourbons in the 1980s while Master Distiller of the George T. Stagg Distillery, now known as Buffalo Trace. Even after his retirement in 1985, he still visited the distillery weekly to select the barrels that would be bottled for his self-named Elmer T. Lee bourbon. He continued that practice until his passing in 2013 at the age of 93. This Kentucky bourbon is a perfectly balanced and rich whiskey, as declared by the man who knew how great bourbon should taste. Elmer was responsible for bringing Blanton's to market and was eventually honored by Buffalo Trace Distillery with this single barrel bourbon.

The bourbon itself is 90 proof, and shares its mash recipe with such stalwarts as Blanton's, Rock Hill Farms, Ancient Age, and Hancock's Reserve. Elmer T. Lee bourbon features an appearance of golden amber. It's aroma is that of strong vanilla and sweet caramel which are followed by light berries, apricot, and peaches. There is a bit of oak on the tail end.

Flavors of maple syrup and caramel are the stories on the tip on the tongue. Buffalo Trace has coaxed the sweetness from the barrel very well here. There is a rush of vanilla on the edges of the palate here, with floral notes as well. Underlying all of that is a the crisp, clear spring water mouth feel that marks so many of Buffalo Trace's premium offerings.

A finish that is long and sweet; light barrel flavors assert themselves near the end with a pleasing mix of oak and tannins, with a burnt sugar and caramel tinge.

Weller Special Reserve bourbon maintains its abundant sweetness on the palate, delivering a tasty yet classic mix of honey, caramel, vanilla, and light fruit. A very slight amount of oak rounds things out. Spice fails to make an appearance, likely a result of the wheated mashbill and relatively low proof, but in doing so, allows the sweet flavors to really come forth. The resulting experience is a nice one, leaving little to complain about aside from its characteristically gentle delivery. The slightest amount of heat appears, followed by a more intense oak note than what came forth in the nose or palate. Honey and caramel reappear, turning a general oaky warmth back to sweeter notes to cap things off. Delicate overall, the finish bestows a well-rounded and quite pleasant ending to the sip.

Early Times Bottled-In-Bond, our tribute to historic bourbon whisky making, honors the quality standards set forth by the U.S. Bottled-in-Bond Act of 1897. This Act requires the whisky to be the product of one distiller that is distilled at one American distillery during one distilling season. The whisky must be aged for at least four years under government supervision in secured federal buildings and bottled at 100 proof.

Henry McKenna Single Barrel Bottled in Bond

This high proof, Bottled-in-Bond Bourbon was named for Henry McKenna, the Irish immigrant who adapted his family's whiskey recipe to work with the grains he found in Kentucky. Henry McKenna is one of the longest aged Bottled-in-Bond whiskeys available today, resting in the barrel through 40 Kentucky seasons. Critics agree that this is perfectly balanced Bourbon.

Woodford Reserve Sonoma Triple Finish

For this 2023 release, Master Distiller Elizabeth McCall has drawn upon prior creative releases and continued product experimentation for inspiration. In 2014, the Master's Collection released the first Pinot Noir finished Kentucky Bourbon in history, Sonoma-Cutrer Pinot Finish. This was followed in 2016 with the first-ever American Brandy Cask finished Bourbon. The Pinot Noir and brandy barrels used for these releases were obtained from famous Sonoma County wineries. These releases featured big, bold, red and dried fruit flavors along with dark chocolate and baking spice notes. At the same time, many wineries began to age their red wines in used Woodford Reserve barrels to create a new "Bourbon Barrel Aged" genre. These wines featured rich vanilla and caramel notes.

This inspired Elizabeth to experiment with various combinations of the three- including finishing Woodford Reserve in Sonoma County wine barrels that had originally been used to mature Woodford Reserve. The result, Sonoma Triple Finish, is a unique blend of Woodford Reserve Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey that has been finished in Sonoma County Pinot Noir, Brandy, and former Bourbon barrels used to age red wine.
