Mrs. Evans will take three (3) eighth graders to lunch at a nice restaurant of the students' choice for a pre-graduation lunch in either April or May, 2025.

Enjoy a cozy library afternoon with Mrs. Mullane and Mrs. Schmid Hallinan. You'll meet in front of the Newport Beach Public Library at 3:30pm and each child will sign up for their very own library card at the front desk, or bring their own if they already have one. We'll go to the children's section to select books to be put into personalized book bags made specifically for each child. After checking-out, we'll take our happy bag of books and walk over to Sprinkles Cupcakes for a celebration cupcake.

AI to Art: Design Workshop

Turn your ideas into illuminated artwork in this engaging 90-minute workshop! Students will learn how to use AI technology to help visualize their original designs, then work with Mr. Gapp to transform their creation into a real etched piece using a Glowforge laser cutter. The workshop concludes with students adding simple lighting effects to make their artwork glow.

This hands-on STEAM workshop includes:

• Introduction to AI image generation tools
• Basic digital design concepts
• Guided laser cutting experience
• Simple light-up elements
• A personalized light-up artwork to take home

Perfect for curious minds in grades 1-8 who enjoy art, technology, or both! No prior experience needed. Parental involvement may be requested for lower school students.

This cannot be found elsewhere: an exciting, exclusive behind-the-scenes tour of the world-renowned video game studio, Blizzard Entertainment, by Blizzard Production Director and HDS alumnus Clayton Stone.

Mr. Pikula and up to 4 students will visit Blizzard HQ. You will gain insight into the game development process and Blizzard's creative culture, with plenty of opportunities for photos on campus.

Mrs. Wang would love to celebrate the Year of the Snake with you and your family!

Mrs. Wang will meet you at a Chinese restaurant to share the traditions of Chinese New Year, talk about Chinese dining etiquette, practice using chopsticks, and introduce some delicious dishes in Chinese.

Students may have knowledge of Chinese customs or be new to them - this opportunity is open to all. It will be a fun and educational experience for everyone, and a great way to really get immersed in culture!
