SSEF's Silent Auction: Invest in Educational Empowerment
Although we have postponed our 25th Anniversary Celebration till next May, our online auction supports crucial Educational Empowerment Initiatives:
Almost 25 years since the "Lost" boys and girls arrived at Logan Airport - with the belief that "Education is both mother and father" - we maintain our dedication to advancement. We are grateful for your investment in our community!
Early Education: Universal early education is still a dream with limited programs and limited hours. Although some families may be eligible for Head Start or a public program, there are too few spaces and long waiting lists. Since 2018, SSEF has prioritized pre-K education by offering enrollment and tuition assistance to families. Early education is vital to children's success, but is cost-prohibitive. Preschool tuition assistance allows families to take advantage of this crucial enrichment: SSEF funds up to 90% of tuition, capped at $4,000. We project 20 children for 2025-2026.
The academic, social, emotional, and psychological "summer slide" that under resourced children face is significant. Summer programs offer immersive learning experiences that maintain and strengthen skills. SSEF's mission to partner with great summer programs began in 2004. With your investment, forty-five children will access summer enrichment this summer!
Women's Program
The Women's Program assists with continuing education and workforce development. SSEF provides tuition assistance for Driver's Ed, vocational training and education.
All efforts are about empowering women and assisting them with accessing resources.
Many adults strive to improve their employment situations: better pay or shorter commutes. The expense of continuing education is substantial on limited incomes. The tuition assistance enables adults to pursue educational and vocational courses with support for GEDs, Certified Nurse's Assistant Programs and all degree programs. $1500 to $2000 cap per semester.
Families are struggling to make ends meet, and Driver's Education is important, but often an unmanageable extra expense. SSEF wants everyone to be safe and confident in the driver's seat. We pay for half of Driver's Education for all teens, and the full cost for women and the newly arrived.
Participating and competing in sports as a teen requires a great deal of resources. SSEF is looking for more mentors, guidance and financial assistance for our athletes. Financial assistance up to $250 for middle school students and up to $500 for high school students, with a limit of two scholarships per family. The goal is to increase youth participation in sports and boost personal development through physical activity.
