Schedule
8:00a: Executive Breakfast for both the student and up to two (adult) family members and/or one drop-off caregiver in the Principal's office with Martha Ortiz. Review a list of executive orders and choose one (e.g., extra 10 minutes of recess*) to issue during the morning announcements.
8:15a: Stand alongside Martha Ortiz as she formally introduces the new Principal for a Day to students and caregivers during morning drop-off.
Morning: Broadcast the morning announcements, including the issuance of the Executive Order selected during the breakfast meeting (*e.g., 10 extra minutes of recess); then proceed with the oversight of school operations, which may include interacting with teachers and students during classroom walk-throughs and observations, faculty and/or staff meetings, and other opportunities to exercise leadership skills as a member of the campus's administrative team; as the busy morning shifts into an equally engaging afternoon, choose a lunch item from a restaurant takeout menu to be delivered in advance of an...
12:00p: Executive Lunch in the conference room with the HWIS Administration: Sharon Huang, Bill Hicks, Martha Ortiz, and Nicole Liu!
Afternoon: It's business as usual heading into midday... before suddenly being pulled into an "impromptu" emergency strategy session with Sharon Huang, Bill Hicks, and Martha Ortiz to solve an unanticipated problem!
3:20p: Oversee dismissal procedures, monitor student pick-ups, and orchestrate school bus embarkation and departure.

- Principal for a Day session scheduled on a mutually agreed upon date with the HWIS Administration in the spring 2025 semester.
- The winning bidder has the option to double, triple or quadruple their donation (based on the number of students they have enrolled at HWIS) lest they're prepared to choose a favorite child, so bid wisely.

This is a priceless opportunity to tour Hell's Kitchen's iconic and closed-to-the-public recording studio. Led by Brett Mayer, HWIS parent and the husband of one of HudsonWay's own beloved teachers, Ms. Gwen, your family can view the legendary stomping grounds where of some of the music industry's most inspiring and influential artists, Broadway cast members, and Pixar movie soundtracks record the songs that score the moments of our lives and tug at our heartstrings.
And by the way, while you're there, your child can record their own song. Or why not even channel the Von Trapp brood and lay down your own family track!
*Tours and studio recording time are not available to the general public.
About Power Station Studios
A landmark public-private-nonprofit partnership bringing together Berklee, the City of New York, musician/investor Pete Muller, and members of the Founder's Advisory Board formed to revitalize the historic Power Station Studios on West 53rd Street. The building was originally built as a Con-Edison power relay station, which provided power to Manhattan's elevated train, which has since been converted into the High Line. The recording studios--where Bruce Springsteen, Paul Simon, Tony Bennett, Lady Gaga, David Bowie, Madonna, Herbie Hancock, Esperanza Spalding, Bob Dylan, the cast of Hamilton, and many others recorded iconic albums--has been transformed into a state-of-the-art recording and video production facility for the city's music, theater, television, and film industries, as well as a campus for Berklee to provide music and performing arts education just blocks from Broadway.

HWIS Connection
Brett Mayer (HWIS Parent) is the Chief Technician at the iconic Power Station Studios on West 53rd Street. His wife, known to the rest of us as Ms. Gwen, has recently returned from maternity leave to continue teaching English in her 4th year at HudsonWay, and their daughter, Tennyson, is in Spanish PreK.

See where live news is broadcast to millions of Americans each morning, tour the sets of daytime television's biggest names, and walk the halls as their famous hosts and guests.

About CBS Studios
The CBS Broadcast Center, located at the northern edge of the Hell's Kitchen neighborhood in Manhattan, is an 800,000 square foot world-class television production facility that includes column-free studios ranging in size from 3200 square feet to 8256 square feet, each with a dedicated control room. The facility opened as a CBS Production Center in August 1964 after moving from the Grand Central Terminal Building and other locations throughout Manhattan.
Much of the early production was News driven with anchors such as Walter Cronkite, who was the CBS Evening News anchorman for 19 years. Since then, it has been the production home for live news and sports programming, soap operas, sitcoms, prime time dramatic presentations, talk shows, court themed shows, and children's programming.
Today, the CBS Broadcast Center is the home for CBS News Streaming programing, CBS Sports and Sports Network WCBS-TV and several other corporate and third-party productions. It is also the distribution center for the CBS Television Network.
The campus also contains additional support spaces such as a scenic design area, audience holding areas, dressing rooms, wardrobe storage and prep rooms, multi-station make-up and hair rooms, a multipurpose rehearsal space, 24-hour per day national/international distribution and commercial integration facility, a commissary, and on-site production office space. It is the only television production facility in New York that is truly full-service, able to provide assistance with set design, installation, lighting, propping, production, post-production and distribution.

- Winning bidder selects one (1) homeroom class and a total of two (2) adult chaperones to participate; one of the two chaperones can be the winning bidder if desired.

- Field trip can take place 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM on May 27, May 28, June 3, or June 4 of 2025.
