In 1986, ROCO winemaker Rollin Soles arrived in Oregon with a radical idea: To show that the Willamette Valley is the premier sparking wine region in the New World. In the tradition of champagne, he believed this marine-influenced landscape north of the 45th parallel could grow crisp, fresh-fruited Pinor Noir and Chardonnay.

Soles' legacy is intertwined with the story of sparkling wine in Oregon. Some say he is the sparkling wine master of Oregon.
