When my sons were two years old and one month old, I was diagnosed with melanoma. At the time, they told me if they didn't catch it early enough there was nothing they could do, which hit me like a brick. I underwent quarterly exams for five years, and thankfully, it hadn't spread. Now, I go to the dermatologist regularly. Recently, another mole came back as melanoma but thankfully that was a stage zero.
In addition, my mom was from a family of 12 kids and nine died from various cancers. Two of my three younger brothers have been diagnosed with prostate cancer.
During my career I traveled a lot, so I could never commit to much. When I stopped traveling so much, I was excited to get involved with Coaches vs. Cancer as a way to give back and help beat cancer.
