The night of October 5, 2024, was a fun-filled event to celebrate the Boys & Girls Club of Pasadena, the kids we serve, our amazing Club Champions, Larry Cole and "Big John" Matthiessen, and our friends and supporters. We feasted on yummy burgers, held live and online silent auctions, drew the winner of the Wine Wagon raffle, watched a performance by our very own Club kids, and took time to walk through the Club's Blue Doors and inspire a future where our Club kids reach their dreams!
The evening was filled with many inspirational moments, including remarks about Larry Cole, long-time Mackenzie-Scott Branch Director, and "Big John" Matthiessen, two-time BGCP Board Chair and long-time Club Champion. Both passed away this past year. We also watched a moving video from the Club's 2024 Youth of the Year, Jocelyn R., who shared her personal story and how the Club has inspired her to continue striving towards her goals.
On this incredibly special night, we raised over $350,000 for life-changing programs for kids and teens in the greater Pasadena community. We deeply appreciate all those who continue to support this event year after year and those of you who attended for the first time. The Club is needed now more than ever as we continue to invest in our members and go deeper in our programming to ensure every Club kid who walks through our Blue Doors is set up for a Great Future.
A very special thank you to the Black Tie & Burgers Committee and its Chair, Melina Montoya, for planning this beautiful and truly one-of-a-kind Black Tie & Burgers!

October 5: Black Tie & Burgers! Our program was as follows:
- 6:00 pm: Cocktail Hour Reception, Silent Auction, and Wine Wagon Ticket Sales
- 7:10 pm: Dinner, Club Member Performance, Youth of the Year Video, Larry Cole and "Big John" Matthiessen Tributes, "Through the Club's Doors" BGCA video, From Blue Doors to Dreams member spotlight, Drawing of the Wine Wagon Raffle
- 9:30 pm: Silent Auction Closed
- 9:30 pm: Dancing and celebrating the power of the Club's Blue Doors
