Nature Art Collection
$90llustrated greeting cards, poster and book by Angela Mele
If you love colorful patterns in nature and fascinating science, this set of illustrated greeting cards, poster and book is for you!
Angela Mele, an interpretive planner and scientific illustrator, used a microscope and mixed media to closely observe and illustrate around 35 species of slime mold at 40 times their actual size, highlighting their beauty and uncommon splendor.
Intricate and elusive, slime molds (myxomycetes) look and "behave" unlike any other living thing. They start their lives as giant traveling, bacteria-eating, one-celled blobs, then send up reproductive structures, each species with its own hues and ornate details. They're common on all continents, yet most people have never seen or heard of them!
This bundle of items features nature art on four greeting cards, an 8.5 x 11-inch "Slime Molds of the World" poster, and the 63-page book, A Companion to Cosmopolitan Slime Molds.
Angela served on Holden's Teaching Faculty during summer 2022 and shared insights about interpretive planning from 11 years of experience in museums and design firms
