This pair of earrings is glazed green - the same as the many trees that surround Holden!
These earrings were made with wood etched by beetles in a Douglas fir that grew in a valley near Chelan long before Mari acquired the wood. Mother beetles lay eggs in a straight line in the sugary phloem under the tree bark. When they hatch, the babies consume the sugar, leaving these meandering grooves behind.
