Kutahya tiles dates back as early as the 1300s, but over several centuries and because of highly specialized techniques for manufacturing ceramics pioneered in the 16th century, Kutahya ceramics would ultimately help to define Turkey's cultural centers and stylistic identity. These replica plates combine the traditional Ottoman styles and colors found in the 15th century and 16th century with those found in Asia, notably China, during the same period. Often referred to as Iznik design, the plates are produced with quartz and specialized glazing techniques. Master craftsmen and artists then hand paint, and sign each plate with designs inspired by the Topkari Palace of the Ottoman Empire. World renowned for superior craftsmanship and design, similar replicas are displayed in museums internationally, such as Pera Museum in Turkey and Victoria and Albert Museum in England.
