This is a hand-thrown round vase. In this unique ceramic work, I use the paper-resist technique. I create a distinct pattern by hand-cutting paper for each piece and then laying it out on the body. Once I apply the glaze slip (which I made) on the piece, I peel off the patterns, then touch up the details carefully and repeatedly before and after bisque firing the ceramics.

Stoneware.
The interior color is glossy black.

These beautiful ceramic canisters may also be used as vases with the flower tops sitting beside. I prefer to hand build most of my pieces instead of throwing them to give them more of an organic feel. All of my flowers are formed by hand (I never use molds) so no two are exactly alike. The canisters are finished in a nontoxic, food safe glaze.
