This work is a giclee reproduction on canvas of an original oil by Signe & Genna Grushovenko. The image is inspired by spectators at the Apollo 11 launch in 1969 and is meant to communicate an overall feeling of optimism, awe, and inspiration.

The artists print the giclees from their studio using highly archival materials, including museum grade Epson inks that are rated for 200 years. The piece is hand signed and titled on the back by the artists.

This is a hand-thrown round vase. In this unique ceramic work, I use the paper-resist technique. I create a distinct pattern by hand-cutting paper for each piece and then laying it out on the body. Once I apply the glaze slip (which I made) on the piece, I peel off the patterns, then touch up the details carefully and repeatedly before and after bisque firing the ceramics.

Mountain Meadow Micro Mosaic is made with 99.9% pure silver with 24k gold overlay and freshwater pearls. Handmade glass, and a freshwater pearl chain that can adjust from 16" to 20".
Micro mosaics is a lost art form developed by the Vatican in Rome in the 1700's. I trained in Ravenna, Italy and create my pieces using the same method. I melt raw glass from Murano, Italy, combining colors together and shaping the glass while hot and then pulling the glass into thin rods, or threads called filati. I cut the glass threads into tiny pieces, called tesserae that are smaller than a grain of rice. I plan out my image, and working from my drawing, I will place the glass pieces vertically into the setting, with a handmade stucco adhesive underneath the glass holding the pieces in place. The stucco becomes rock hard after about 2 months of curing time. It takes a long time to set because I make it following a Roman formula using travertine marble dust and linseed oil. This slow curing time is necessary because it takes several days or longer to create each heirloom piece.

Long exposure photograph of the old Gary Public Schools Memorial Auditorium, built in 1927 to honor local veterans who died in WWI. For 70 years it was used for events like graduations and music festivals (yes, the Jackson 5 did perform here!) Three years after being added to the National Register of Historic Places, the Great Gary Arson of 1997 destroyed nearly the entirety of the massive building which could house an audience of 5000. This lone brick section continued to stand strong for years despite the elements and the explorers. While now demolished, the land has been repurposed for affordable housing for the fine folks of Gary. This pink piano is currently home to the mice and centipedes we watched skitter across the top as we illuminated it with a green flashlight. The rest of the brick structure is lit with blue, red, and yellow from our Protomachines flashlight while running from corner to corner in the dark, trying not to fall into giant holes in the ground. All in a night's work!

Memories of Light: This subseries of the artist's "Memories" series explores symbolism found on gravestones in the late 1800s. Iconography used on tombs in the Victorian Era was meant to quietly illuminate the lives of the buried individuals with symbols as opposed to words. Gold leaf embellishments have been added to the tintypes, like portraits from the 19th century.

Historically, lilies have been used in artwork to symbolize innocence. Lilies are often given during mourning periods as a beautiful remembrance of a loved one. The flowers are meant to symbolize the innocence that is restored to the soul once they have departed.
