Chesley Bonestell was an architect, working on landmarks like the Chrysler Building and Golden Gate Bridge, but soon made a reputation for himself as a matte artist in Hollywood, working on such classics as The Hunchback of Notre Dame and Citizen Kane. It was when he first began to sketch planets as viewed from their moons that took the art community by storm. In showing planets from a defined visual angle, he introduced a human point of view and our collective human imagination was immediately switched on to the experience of space travel.

With this bid, you'll take home two beautiful prints from the "Dean of Astronomical Artists" - a copy of the famous "Saturn as Seen From Titan" (30"w x 25.5"h), one of the six illustrations by Bonestell published in Life magazine in May 1944, and a signed copy of the 1948 print, "The Conquest of Space" (27.5"w x 23.5"h). This beautiful oil painting, I Love That, by Tami Beale is one that would fit in any art-lover's home.

"Delaware River" by Wright State University Associate Professor of Art, Ben Montague, is a 2024 Unique Dry Plate Tintype.

The image portrays the remnants of a pier along the Delaware River in Philadelphia. The use of the tintype process evokes historical images of the Western landscape, obscuring the familiarity of the contemporary landscape and preventing it from being firmly placed in any specific time.

Gary W. Hinsche, award-winning artist and executive design director of the Ohlmann Group in Dayton, has provided us with this lovely artwork, U, created with epoxy over acrylic on Baltic Birch. This piece is a part of his collection, called AZ, essence of a letterform, a series of large-format acrylic works that represent the culmination of thousands of hours of drawing and four years of work dedicated to expressing the simple essence of a letter, while maintaining the attributes of a fully-developed font: a family of twenty-six letters. And YOU can have the letter U!

To Gary, "...for any work to have value beyond decoration it has to be intellectually or spiritually rooted in an idea that transcends the expected. Art needs to expand the way WE view the world or at least it needs to challenge the obvious and engage the viewer. It's the responsibility of an artist to create a visual bridge between reality and perception. In other words, ART has to change or affect the visual narrative. Challenging realty, interpreting reality and presenting reality differently".

This value is inherently realized in U and you'll be fascinated by the extra dive into Gary's work with the addition of his book, The Essence of a Font" included with the artwork.

Gary has worked with some of the world's most prestigious brands and events, including the 1984 Olympics, the 1994 FIFA Men's World Cup, the 1999 FIFA Women's World Cup, Teledyne, Vaurnet France, Beckman Coulter, Sutter Health, Vitas, and the National Holocaust Museum.
