You can still participate in the auction!Course Description: This evidence-based course will address the complexities of breast cancer rehabilitation from the perspective of the outpatient clinician, with a focus on understanding the surgical management of breast cancer and the role of rehabilitation throughout the survivorship continuum. Special attention will be given to the management of common shoulder and upper quadrant dysfunction, including physical therapy evaluation and treatment considerations related to common breast cancer treatment side effects. A dedicated panel presentation will highlight the importance of integrated care that addresses the physical, psychosocial and wellness concerns faced by breast cancer patients and survivors including topics such as dry needling for the breast cancer patient, risk factors for the development of lymphedema and pelvic floor side effects of breast cancer treatment.
Who Should Attend: The course is of interest to all oncology rehabilitation professionals including physical therapists, occupational therapists, physical therapy assistants, occupational therapy assistants and massage therapists with any level of experience; however, the content is most appropriate for intermediate to advanced clinicians. It is also of interest to therapists working in an outpatient rehabilitation setting who would like to enhance their understanding of breast cancer and improve their clinical skills to better care for patients during and after breast cancer treatment.
Course Format: The unique course format provides participants with an opportunity to learn through lectures, interactive discussions with speakers and patients as well as lab participation that will be woven throughout.
Continuing Education Credit: Approved for 7.25 Continuing Competency Hours by the Physical Therapy Association of Georgia and Georgia Occupational Therapy Association.
