The 2004 O'Connell Girls' Soccer Team, often hailed as the most dominant force in Bishop O'Connell's athletics history and the high school soccer community, achieved an undefeated regular season, 20-0, and secured its position as the number one-ranked team in the country. Their overwhelming performance on the field, scoring 111 goals while conceding only four and setting a school record with 16 shutouts, is a testament to their unbeatable defense and teamwork.

Under the unwavering leadership of Head Coach Alberto Starace, the Lady Knights clinched their third consecutive WCAC championship, solidifying their position at the summit of high school soccer. Despite a grueling national schedule, they consistently triumphed over some of the nation's top teams, with five or six ranked in the top 25. Their victory at the prestigious McDonogh Tournament, which featured many of the country's top teams, and their resounding 7-0 win over a top-10-ranked opponent showcased their dominance at a national level.

This exceptional team comprised super-talented players who expressed their talents on the field and afterward in Division 1 colleges and universities. Of this team, between 11 and 13 players were recruited into the Division 1 programs, including highly regarded schools like the University of Virginia, the University of South Carolina, George Washington University, the University of Tennessee, the University of Pittsburgh, Princeton, Cornell, and the University of Massachusetts. The senior class certainly left their mark on O'Connell soccer, finishing their high school careers with 67 wins, four losses, and two ties. They had some of that special something in their talent, drive, and cohesion to make them one of the finest teams to don the O'Connell jersey.
