Hope AuBuchon is a self taught artist that loves to bring smiles to people's faces. She grew up as a military brat and because of that she was able to see a lot of the world while she was young. Hope is always trying new things and trying to grow as a person and an artist.

Hope has painted a garden butterfly titled "It's all Monet" inspired by Claude Monet and his love of nature. In addition, she also has a petite butterfly titled "Bunch-a-Balloons" inspired by the Labor Day balloons that happen every year at Memorial Park. Hope wants to help her community. This will be her 8th year with Wings of Change.

Painting for Hedy is a passion. Her favorite period of art is the Impressionists with its emphasis on loose brush work, creating one's own "impression" of a subject, and using a variety of colors and textures. Her years as a docent at the Fine Arts Center at Colorado College and trips throughout Europe inspired her to start painting again on a regular basis. She has a BFA from Michigan State and started entering art shows in Colorado Springs about 15 years ago. She has shown her art at Cottonwood Center for the Arts, Academy Art and Frame, Commonwheel Co-op, Pikes Perk in Mountain Shadows, Manitou Art Center and more. She has participated in Rotary's Wings of Change (formerly Flight) for 5 years.

Hedy has painted a garden butterfly "Fantasy Garden" inspired by her love of gardening. Flowers inspire her. She loves the colors and variety of annual and perennial plants and loves to paint with bright and happy colors.

Leigh is a repeat artist for Rotary's Wings of Change having created sculptures in both 2011 and 2013. garden butterfly "Dragon-fly - Chinese Year of the Dragon 2024". She admires the worthy cause and heartfelt efforts of the Rotary Club of Colorado Spring fundraising event and wants to assist in preparing a meaningful art contribution.

Leigh's garden butterfly "Dragon-fly: Chinese Year of the Dragon 2024" is inspired by thinking of how to transition a butterfly into a "dragon fly". Her design represents the Chinese "Year of the Dragon 2024" on the upper wings and Koi fish on the lower wings. The spiritual meaning of both, among other things, is good fortune. This is what Leigh wishes for the Rotary Club of Colorado Springs in its heart-felt fundraising endeavors. "Good Fortune" is written in Chinese on the dragon and Koi fish.

Even as a teenager, Robin was interested in arts and crafts. Over the years, she has pursued crafts in the areas of embroidery, sewing, stained glass, bead work, and home decor. Several years ago, her journey into painting began. Her time towards this endeavor has been limited and as a beginner, Robin looks forward to spending more time painting and to improving her skill level. The craft projects she has created have been for gifts for family and friends. Several years ago, however, she contributed a zebra painting and numerous beaded jewelry pieces to a fundraiser for mission work in Costa Rica.

Her garden butterfly "Serengeti" is inspired by her love of animals. As an animal lover, she can't imagine designing a butterfly without incorporating animals. Whether seeing animals in pictures or in real life, Robin finds them fascinating. She is always wondering what they are thinking because their faces hold so much expression. The shapes, sizes, colors, and fur patterns of animals are interesting to her. They bring her feelings of peace and joy.

Denise comes to Manitou Springs from Phoenix, Arizona. She's a lifelong explorer of the natural world and the small joys that can be found in everyday things. Denise has painted a garden butterfly titled "The Sun Is Shining" to remind people that the sun is the symbol of energy, power and life. A simple dose of sunshine can make a positive difference

She loves giving back to the community and has painted butterflies in 2021 and 2022.

Lorraine is a resident of Colorado Springs. She has an art degree from Pratt Institute of Art in New York. She has been represented by galleries in New York, New Jersey, New Mexico (Taos and Santa Fe), Arizona (Sedona) and currently shows at Gallery 45 Degree in Old Colorado City. Her work of animals, aspen, flowers or mountains is always a celebration of textures and colors.

Lorraine has created three sculptures for 2024, a garden butterfly "All a Flutter" and two petite butterflies "Sunflower Celebration" and "Just Winging It". Her butterflies celebrate the wonder of delicate wings capable of soaring and dipping. Delighting all with their antics and heavenly patterns and colors.

Zeno is a seasonal Archaeology Field Tech who loves reading and drawing. He has worked with Wings of Change a couple of times under the old title (Flight) and enjoyed the experience. He has designed a garden butterfly "A Few Classics" inspired by the works of Jules Verne and Robert Louis Stevenson. Each side covers scenes from two of each of the authors' books. He wants to support his community.

Mary is a Colorado native, born in Canon City, grew up in Pueblo and has resided in Colorado Springs since 1973. She had a rewarding 33 year career in Federal Civil Service serving the US Air Force and Army. Becoming an artist and traveling the world are her passions since retirement. She has been a member of Gallery 113 since its inception in 2011. She primarily paints with silk dye on silk fabric in her studio and watercolor on location with Garden Artists and Plein Aire Painters of Colorado. She is a strong supporter of education and the arts. She has painted petite butterflies every year since 2020 and painted a large dragonfly. Her painting group inspires and energizes each other to support this community event.

This year Mary is painting a garden butterfly "Tapestry" inspired by the look of the bold gold, teal and red to form the impression of stitches on a tapestry. And a petite butterfly "Sunset" inspired by a Sunset Moth with colors from white to yellows to greens and blues with a touch of purple and dramatic irregular black shapes

Madylyn Gordon has always loved art, but her other love has always been horses. Madylyn lived most of her life in St. Louis where she found a love for digital art and teaching people of all ages how to ride horses. She came to Colorado in 2019 and became an art teacher where she teaches students how to create works of their own. Her adventurous spirit keeps her moving as she still loves to explore the mountains with her horses.

Madylyn created this garden butterfly "Untamed Wonder" garden butterfly in honor of the nomadic cowgirl lifestyle she loves and to pay tribute to the amazing horses that take her on wonderful adventures. "A colleague of mine created a beautiful butterfly a few years ago and I was inspired by her to create one of my own and leave a lasting impression as an artist in Colorado Springs. After reading about the movement behind the Wings of Change and hearing about my coworker's butterfly I was inspired to create one of my own."

Tejae is a Colorado artist who expresses her passion for life through painting and sculpting. Her intention is to connect emotionally with the viewer through her art, evoking feelings of wonder and joy. Her home base is the picturesque town of Canon City, where she is inspired by the natural landscape, surrounded by mountains and an abundance of wildlife. She enjoys portrait painting and has adorned her art studio with colorful, inspiring murals with florals, butterflies and women's faces. Al B is a local abstract artist who has a studio at the Sluice in Old Colorado City and is a Resident Artist at Platte Collections Gallery in the Knob Hill area. He has been a part of the Rotary's Wings of Change (formerly Flight) for many years. He started because he supported the Rotary Club of Colorado Springs efforts to provide grants for STEAM programs in District 11 schools. His butterflies are always known to be colorful and creative and he has developed a following over the years that made him an ideal choice to create the Rotary Raffle Butterfly for the past few years. His experience has been very helpful to artists participating in the Rotary Wings of Change event in that he is considered to be an expert on what works and doesn't and how to best represent artists designs. He has been a mentor to the other artists involved in Wings of Change projects and has worked hard to contribute to the success of this program.

Al B is the artist of the 2024 raffle butterfly "Chouka" meaning "butterfly flower" in Japanese. Al B has been very busy sharing his talents with Wings of Change this year as the artist of four additional pieces. He has painted a garden dragonfly "Big Blue", inspired by a real dragonfly; A garden butterfly "Buttercup", a petite butterfly "Personal Monarch" and a petite dragonfly "Little Red".

She is a self taught artist who enjoys inspiring others through many forms of art. She is working towards hyper realism and has had the privilege of completing four butterflies for the Rotary fundraiser in the past. Her home has always been on the beautiful front range of Pikes Peak, and She currently lives on her farm with her four kids and husband.

Rebekah's garden butterfly "Damsel" is inspired by a similar design she has done in the past. It turned out stunning when she did it as a petite butterfly. "Damsel" repeats this favorite design in the glorious garden sized butterfly, based off of the beauty found in topaz stone. Her intricate and delicate detail is hard for her to pass up in a larger size! Her petite butterfly "Star Gazer" is inspired by growing up in the country where looking at the stars at night was considered an event. "We would drive to a dirt road, where it was quiet and lay a blanket in the back of the truck while we took in the stunning beauty of the Milky Way and tried to see even the tiniest twinkles. Butterflies are breathtaking and I wanted to merge the beautiful wonder of both."

Rebekah's own education was neglected growing up and she never got more than 3rd grade education until her adulthood. She is passionate about this fundraiser to help give kids these days the best chance they have to an enriched education, and to encourage the arts of all forms for generations to come.

Georgia is a Colorado native. She is a self taught mixed media artist. She started doing art as a young girl to cope with the strife of having heart disease which limited what she could do physically. Over the years, art has been a therapeutic outlet for trauma and health issues in her life. She also does custom work and creates usable art gifts for Maker's Markets when she is not creating for a professional setting.

Georgia's garden butterfly "Atman'' and her petite dragonfly "Summertide" are inspired by reconnecting with her indigenous heritage and her family's indigenous beadwork. Her petite butterfly, "The Garden" is inspired by spring, blooming flowers, and planting flowers. She has participated in Flight, now Wings of Change, in 2022 and 2023. She loves what Wings of Change stands for and what they do for the community. She moved back to the Springs from Denver this January and her daughter attends a D11 school. She enjoys being a chosen artist and being able to contribute her talents to this amazing cause.

Stephanie Moon has been living and painting in Colorado since 2009. Born and raised in a small farm town in Michigan, Stephanie developed a love for nature during trips to the lakeshore and her grandma's cottage in northern Michigan. Stephanie's landscapes capture the forever evolving, vibration of nature, utilizing bold colors and concentrated mark-making. "My paintings capture the immense beauty and wonder of our natural world." When she is not in the studio creating, you will most likely find Stephanie out on the trails exploring, spending time with her dog and husband, or teaching others how to express their creative side.

Her garden butterfly "Night and Day" is inspired by telling stories of the outdoors through visual means. This piece represents the best of Colorado, with sunrises, mountains, streams, lush valleys, and the milky way from our dark skies. It is what we picture in our minds of idyllic Colorado. I think increasing access to the arts and innovative ideas for young people is extremely important! Supporting the community and providing resources allows the collective community to grow and improves all of us.

Nicholas specializes in flow art using unconventional surfaces and alternative mediums. He has painted a garden butterfly "Mariposa Flow" inspired by the beautiful blending of science and aesthetic beauty that can be found in nature and the arts.

Instructor at Bemis School of Art for 13 years. Lifelong learner and devoted to supporting the arts in Colorado Springs. This is her hometown! Her work has been featured in Somerset Studio magazines numerous times and her work primarily with acrylics and mixed media. She loves encouraging artists, both adults and youth, to tap into their unique creative intuition and learn to trust it. Her garden butterfly "The Secret Garden" is inspired by the classic book of the same name. It is a story that represents a metaphor for life itself, and the intrinsic need people and living things have to be cared for. It is a story of hope, and friendship, where flowers refresh the spirit by tending to a neglected garden which brings health to broken souls.

Bringing beauty to the outdoor spaces is what motivates her involvement with Wings of Change. She first painted a butterfly. Georgia's Wings, in 2015 for the year of O'Keeffe at the Fine Arts Center. Margaret Sabin, CEO of Penrose Hospital purchased it for the atrium garden area at the hospital. "It was such an honor to have my piece purchased for a place of healing." In 2023 she felt led to paint a butterfly again, also with a Georgia O'Keeffe theme. It took her a while to figure out how to move forward for 2024 and what type of design to pursue. Then the Secret Garden came to mind, and with Wings of Change being the new format for painting butterflies, it was perfect...a time for her to change directions with her design too. She has taught The Secret Garden art class at Bemis to both children and adults for many years. It always brings out beautiful creativity in students and she sees their work blossom into little masterpieces. It is her hope that "The Secret Garden'' butterfly will land in a place where the purchaser will understand the beauty of caring for living things.

Kristina Storey works primarily in watercolor but enjoys creating in a wide range of media including acrylic. Her florals and landscapes reflect her love of color and nature, while her still life paintings combine luminous color with strong light and intricate detail. In acrylic she finds a medium that not only releases freedom and spontaneity but also shines forth with brilliant translucent color. A local Colorado Springs artist, she has been in many shows and won numerous awards over the past 20 years. She has been a participant of Flight for several years and is excited to be a part of Wings of Change this year.

Kristina's garden butterfly "Sunny Side Up" is inspired by a love of sunflowers and making a big bold statement. I participated in the past from 2013-2016. It's a great project to be involved with to support the community and the work of the Rotary Club of Colorado Springs.

Born in Montana and raised in Colorado, she has been sketching, painting and performing since childhood, allowing her the opportunity to earn accolades, awards and scholarships as a young artist. As an adult, she pursued a career in animal law enforcement, becoming a State Agent with Colorado's Bureau of Animal Protection. She served as a voice for the voiceless, helping both people and animals in her community, and was featured as a lead officer on the Nat Geo Wild/Disney+ show, Rocky Mountain Animal Rescue. She was blessed with two beautiful daughters, and is currently a stay-at-home mother thanks to the encouragement and support of her husband. This has allowed her to reignite her passion for art, which serves as mindful meditation and bonding with her girls.

Sara's fluid paintings, featured in many local galleries, are inspired by surrounding landscapes and showcase the energy and beauty of the world around us. Her garden butterfly "Among The Trees" is inspired by the local landscapes we are lucky enough to be surrounded by here in Colorado. The colors chosen for this butterfly represent the color palette you may find on the forest floor when you escape into nature. Deep rich greens that seem to light up from within when the sun hits them, shimmering light seeping through thick branches, and bold shadows from the layers of rocks and leaves that cover the earth as we explore the mountains that define our region.

She grew up in District 11 schools. Her daughters will also be following in her footsteps at D11. Being an avid artist and musician, she understands how important it is, and how difficult it can be, to find adequate funding for arts and sciences within the school system. For years she has noticed the beautiful butterflies popping up around our city, but until recently had no idea what they represented.

It wasn't until she was doing live painting at Platte Collections Gallery during her exhibit there as a featured artist, that she had the opportunity to become acquainted with the Rotary Club of Colorado Springs and Wings of Change as members explored the gallery for the First Friday Art Walk and encouraged her to participate . "This is a wonderful chance for me to continue to support the community I live in, the arts that I love, and the chance for other students to have the same access to the amazing programs I was lucky enough to be a part of as a D11 student."

Jeanie has taken art classes at Pikes Peak State College. She has exhibited in several shows at the Downtown Studio and Cacao Chemistry. Jeanie has worked in public and school health as a registered nurse. Travel and community volunteer work are two of Jeanie's passions. Organic forms from nature and science inspire her work. Jeanie's garden butterfly, "Miro Wings of Change" is inspired by the artist Joan Miro. I wanted to place his whimsical and abstract designs on a butterfly. The art of Joan Miro brings together images of the real and the imaginary. His bright colors and abstract forms work well as colorful butterfly patterns.

She is a fan of community art and also wants to support the work of the Rotary Club of Colorado Springs. She understands the importance of arts education in our schools. She has completed garden size and petite butterflies and a dragonfly in previous years.

We are a team of three Colorado Springs artists. Lori Vafiades, Elizabeth Lutz and Sarah Joy are seasoned illustrators and teachers. We lead a group of artists through Sanctuary Studios where we conduct healing art and movement classes. Our team specializes in life-giving art and whimsical illustration. We are new artists with Rotary's Wings of Change but do have experience in creating art for public venues.

Our garden butterfly "Emerge" utilizes circles as a motif, representing the continuous cycle of life and growth. There are scenes of beginnings, symbolized by images such as a cocoon, a seed, and a sunrise heralding a new day. These visuals evoke themes of light, life, and hope, inviting viewers to contemplate the potential for transformation. There are also representations of fulfillment and fruition. Here, the butterfly spreads its wings in flight, surrounded by flourishing plants, vibrant communities, and diverse expressions of health and well-being. The before & after images embody the concept of emerging, illustrating the beauty that arises from embracing change and growth. Throughout the sculpture, intricate henna designs intertwine with the illustrations, weaving a cohesive visual narrative that unites the diverse elements of the artwork. This integration symbolizes the interconnectedness of all life and reinforces the message of unity and inclusion.
