JOE ADDISON is a photographer and printmaker who specializes in historic and experimental processes. Omaha's MADS ANDERSON likes to think of his work as a basis for sparking visual conversations, ones that engage viewers in dialogues about organization amid chaos-and vice versa. Anderson has always been fascinated by life's inherent dualities: the secure sameness that guides our everyday lives despite the underlying reality that anything, and everything, can change in an instant. Yet this chaos is in itself a constant, an unpredictability we can predict with absolute certainty. Through his paintings and sculptures, Anderson seeks to address this duality. He combines color, pattern, and line into fluidly dynamic compositions in which each stroke and mark-no matter how small and apparently inconsequential-is unequivocally integral to the whole. Each part speaks to another, each one echoing, answering, questioning, and provoking endless responses and counter responses. These are the visual conversations Anderson hopes to start, ones that he hopes are equally thoughtful, challenging, perplexing, and playful-and perhaps even a little maddening.

JO ARCHULETA is a painter living in Kansas City, Missouri. Archuleta's work explores the mythology of womanhood and the complexity of identity. She is interested in exploring leisure, desire, pleasure, and "the specificity as a state of being." SHELLY BARTEK was born in a country setting, which led to the spirit of land and sky within it inspiring nature's narrative. JUSTIN BELLER is a mixed-media artist known for work that represents both the physicality of space and the metaphysics of dreamlike states. In his paintings and wall installations he uses vertical and horizontal lines, blocks of colors, abstract freeforms, and geometric shapes to distill the essence of earth, sky, and water and to open closed interior surroundings. Movement, form, freedom, and time are integral components of his work, and they all combine to expand and extend confined interior spaces.
In his paintings, Beller replicates smooth, water-like surfaces and boundless, open skies to absorb viewers into quieter, more contemplative worlds that, while focusing them in the present, go beyond limited time constraints. His elongated freestanding sculptures and tapered wall installations similarly create the illusion of greater openness by bringing viewers' gazes upwards and outwards. The overall effect creates greater spatial awareness and a deeper appreciation of our immediate surroundings, ones that are ultimately as intimate as they are boundless.
Frequently commissioned by private collectors as well as corporate and small businesses, Beller maintains a one-man studio in Benson, one of Omaha's fastest expanding arts districts. Beller is represented by Moberg Gallery in Des Moines, Iowa and eAurora in Chicago, Illinois.

BEXO paintings are collaborations of sisters Rexo Droppers and Betni Kalk. Kalk is a designer, painter, muralist, and graphic design professor. Droppers is a musician, photographer, and painter. Their first step is to create textured backgrounds with lots of drips and sprays to activate the acrylic. MICHAEL BLOOD-ANDERSON was born and raised on the open plains of North Central Kansas, where he developed a strong imagination through independent play during childhood. After studying graphic design at Cloud County Community College in Concordia, he eventually moved to Manhattan, Kansas and found himself immersed in the local arts and culture. After meeting his wife and moving to Omaha, Nebraska in 2019, he once again began studying art and what it means to him, which reignited his passion for painting. JAMES BOCKELMAN is a professor of art at Concordia University Nebraska where he also serves as director of the Marxhausen Gallery of Art. He has been represented by Lo River Arts Gallery in Beacon, New York, the Karolyn Sherwood Gallery in Des Moines, and is currently represented by Circuitous Succession Gallery in Memphis, Modern Arts Midtown in Omaha, and Galerie Inga Kondeyne in Berlin. Bockelman earned an MFA in painting from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln in 1997.

HANA BROCK is an Omaha-based oil painter whose practice focuses on how architecture and forgotten spaces can act as a mirror of human emotions, influencing feelings of grief, loneliness, and abandonment. Her attraction to liminal spaces stems from the fact that they are created for the purpose of human use. As time passes and people move on, the space remains, being left behind with a collection of memories. These unknowable histories inspire Brock to see structures as living, silently existing, and observing how we interact with them. Capturing these structures at night, stripped of human interaction, and incorporating artificial light is her way of further enhancing our connection to spaces.

SANDI BRUNS is a plein air watercolor painter that holds a BA degree in design and fashion from the University of Iowa and a BFA equivalent with an MFA in printmaking from the University of Hawaii. Her prints have won awards including a Purchase Award from the Smithsonian. In San Francisco, she exhibited in the '70s with the William Sawyer Gallery. In 1988 she co-authored and illustrated "Dress Smart" (Fairchild, New York), with a second edition in 2004. After raising children and doing commission work for over twenty years, she became involved in public art projects in both Omaha, Nebraska and Summit County. Bruns was a founding member of Summit County Women of Watercolor Plein Air Painters. One-woman shows include Breckenridge Theatre Gallery, Gallery 108, Sunderland Gallery in Omaha, and Summit County Art Council's Arts Alive Gallery. She was an invited artist for Wild About Colorado plein air festival from its inception in 2008, winning People's Choice and 2nd Place Overall awards for her watercolors in various years. LORI ELLIOTT-BARTLE's path into art-making wound through journalism and higher education public relations before she began painting seriously. She has shown artwork in Omaha cooperative and commercial galleries and has had work accepted into regional and national juried shows. Her work is in private collections across the US and in several countries. Elliott-Bartle paints with oils, often mixed with cold wax medium. She uses rollers, wide blades, and brushes to apply paint; then blots, scrapes, and carves with knives and points to reveal underlying colors. These lines, colors, and textures convey motion and emotion. Elliott-Bartle's work was in the 2017 and 2019 Nebraska Artist Biennials. She has been an artist-in-residence at Kimmel Harding Nelson Center for the Arts, Farwell House in Frederick, Illinois, & at the UNL's Cedar Point Biological Station in western Nebraska. EDUARDO GARDEA is a suggestive and impressionistic artist. Born in Texas, Gardea was raised in Nebraska, which influences his works. Utilizing a contemporary art foundation, Gardea's strength as a self-taught artist has enabled him to communicate modern and historic stories of personal and societal struggle and victory. Using a variety of mediums, Gardea summons a collective of ongoing ideas and feelings within the viewer.
Gardea specializes in creating what it means to bear witness to the untold stories of the underrepresented. Creating new perspectives of what he's seen or lived through, he challenges viewers to discover their unique place within a greater narrative. Using a range of mediums, his intention lies in updating the narrative of those who have been denied involvement in mainstream economic, political, cultural, and social activities. The modern day experiences of cycles of oppression, human migration, failures of democracy, success and struggles are more than the surface impressions of worn out narratives. Intentionality in his art doesn't lie in how realistic it appears; it rests quietly within the idea of the subject. Celebrating and sharing unique stories, his work speaks to the value in making space and raising immigrant, Indigenous, and blue collar people from the confinement of the lower or peripheral edge of society, as they are necessary and valuable contributions as we move forward.
Awards include an Amplify Artist grant (Omaha, Nebraska, 2023). Workshops include Emerging Artists at Samuel Bak Museum: The Learning Center (Omaha, Nebraska, 2024). TIM GUTHRIE, the Joella Cohen Endowed Chair at Creighton University, is an Omaha-based multimedia visual artist and filmmaker. His work has been awarded several Independent Artist Fellowships (Distinguished Artist, Filmmaker) from the Nebraska Arts Council for his traditional and digital art, as well as animation and films. He was also awarded Best Visual Artist, Best Show (three times), and Best New Media Artist (three times) by the OEA Awards. He has presented his work nationwide and internationally, including at the Sorbonne in Paris, France. Residencies include the Blue Mountain Center, Vermont Studio Center, Hall Farm, Virginia Center for Creative Arts, International Sculpture Center (Top 25 MFA Sculptors in the Nation), and fellowships from the Sierra Arts Foundation and the Nevada Arts Council. TIM GUTHRIE, the Joella Cohen Endowed Chair at Creighton University, is an Omaha-based multimedia visual artist and filmmaker. ETHAN JONES is a middle school art teacher with a background in graphic design and illustration (working mainly in the music industry, creating album covers and tour merchandise for bands). He currently works in a variety of mediums including acrylic painting, printmaking, mixed-media collage, and pen and ink illustration. Jones has also written and illustrated a children's book, "The Art of the Bedtime," which was self-published and sold approximately 500 copies. The inspiration for his work is rooted in punk rock, album covers, skateboarding, and children's books. Most of the imagery Jones uses is an amalgamation of colorful scenes and characters that could belong in children's books, McDonaldland, horror/nightmares, and punk. Jones's work appears to be kid-friendly, but has very sinister undertones and strong elements of dark humor. Jones learned the basics of graphic design at the now-defunct, for-profit, joke of an art school, The Creative Center. Later, after playing in bands and touring around the US and Europe all through his twenties, Jones was a fine art major and received a bachelor's degree in art education from the University of Nebraska Omaha. His father was also a college art professor in Kansas (where Jones grew up) and Jones has been around art at galleries, museums, and at home for his entire life.

EAMON MCGIVERN (b.1990) is an artist from San Francisco who has spent the past seven years in the Bay Area painting portraits of queers, punks, and poets. More recently, he has been delving into the archives of twentieth century LGBTQ history, picking up strands from holes in the historical narratives in attempts to darn the tears between the past and present wrought by political oppression, transphobia, and the HIV/AIDS epidemic. His work feels into the sorrow born from the absence of the queer and trans people who would have been the teachers, mentors, parents, and grandparents of his generation and the effect their deaths have on contemporary life. He holds a BFA with honors in painting from the Pratt Institute, Brooklyn, New York and an MA in Fine Arts from the Chelsea College, London. ILAAMEN PELSHAW is a visual artist born in Guatemala and based in Omaha, Nebraska. She creates art that is colorful, warm, and happy as a celebration of her heritage. ANTHONY PENA is from Omaha, Nebraska, where he graduated from Omaha North High School and studied fine arts at the University of Nebraska Omaha. COURTNEY KENNY PORTO was born and raised in Omaha, Nebraska. She is known for her colorful acrylic paintings, surrealist animals, and yarn paintings. Porto's work focuses largely on humor, modern still life, and femininity. Porto graduated summa cum laude from Bethany College (Lindsborg, Kansas) with a BA in studio art. She has exhibited work in numerous juried and solo exhibitions, has been selected for several public art projects including Omaha Summer Arts Festival's mural cubes, and has work in private and corporate collections throughout the Midwest. Her work may also be seen on Tender & True's pet food packaging. Porto has been featured in copious publications, magazines, blogs, and television interviews and she currently serves as Joslyn Art Museum's Young Advocates Committee Vice Chair.

LARRY ROOTS is an interdisciplinary artist working at will in a wide scope of visual interests, moving within nonobjective and figurative content. CARLOS ROSALES-SILVA was born on the border of the United States and Mexico in El Paso, Texas. His studio practice considers the vernacular culture in the American Southwest, the western canon of art history, and the political and cultural connections and disparities between them. LISSA SCOTLAND explores nature, flowers, landscapes, and the "pretty" subjects. She questions, "what makes something beautiful?" Using layers of paint, Scotland creates depth within the piece, staying curious with her colors and marks. Her use of color is often bold and surprising. Born in 1978 in Omaha, Nebraska, Scotland grew up in the Midwest. She found painting to be a therapy for the crippling anxiety that had taken over her early years. Two decades of painting later, she now lives in Duluth, Minnesota where she has a home art studio. Scotland's resume includes several gallery shows within the Midwest. She has been a contributing artist to Bemis Center for Contemporary Arts for almost twenty years; her collectors include the Monroe Meyer Institute in Omaha, Nebraska and the Essentia Health Hospital in Duluth, Minnesota.

JEFF SEDREL works with ink and acrylic on paper or canvas in Omaha, Nebraska. Color is the central focus of Sedrel's series of floral paintings, executed by infusing ink and brush painting with impressionist sensibilities. Sedrel works towards an equilibrium between the inevitable metaphors and conventions of still life painting and his desire to communicate in the artistic language of present tense. Moving away from bouquet studies while still employing notions of floral blooms, his most recent works are harmonious color and composition studies that blur the line between impressionism and expressionism. Sedrel earned a BASA at University of Nebraska Omaha in 2012 and multiple OEAA nominations in 2020, 2021, and 2023. In 2017, he was a Union for Contemporary Art Fellow.

VITUS SHELL is a mixed-media collage painter born in Monroe, Louisiana, where he lives and works. His work is geared toward the black experience, giving agency to people from this community through powerful images deconstructing, sampling, and remixing identity, civil rights, and contemporary black culture. Vitus Shell has taught at Grambling State University as an Adjunct Instructor and at Louisiana Tech University as a Visiting Assistant Professor. COLIN SMITH's paintings and sculpture expand the conventions of painting. Beginning with the joys of material, color, and the graphic image, Smith's newest works are aggressive, buoyant, and difficult to classify. The wall works reference minimal painting and expressionism, yet their colors and forms are fully contemporary. The floor sculptures are playful and casual, yet their offhandedness belies a rigorous process and intentional mark making. Smith is interested in making works that charge retinal and interior spaces. They move when you squint and can throw you off-balance if you get too close. His abstractions have a liveliness and spirit that is rare in contemporary painting, particularly in works that contain such a restrained and focused bag of tricks. Smith received his BFA in 1988 from the University of Nebraska Omaha (UNO) and his MFA in 1992 from Drake University. He teaches at UNO.

PATTY TALBERT holds a BFA in studio art.
"I celebrate my vibrant and colorful heritage with all its glory of patterns and textures and geometric form which innately exudes from me. My work is inspired by techniques used in batiking. When the elements of batiking are translated onto wood or canvas, there is a layering of different colors, patterns, and textures. The relationship between these three elements create a unique harmony within the elements of each design. Through the years, my work has changed and evolved, giving me a sense of purpose and a vehicle to express my feelings and desires. My style of painting has allowed me to encompass methods of expression utilized by my ancestors and adds a modern relevance to my growth as a proud black female artist. Through my work I have created three layers of stimulation by using layers of colors, textures and lines within each design. Your eye stimulation is my inspiration. I am exploring what happens with lines and within lines of colors because the way colors change next to another color excites me."
Talbert's recent exhibitions include the group exhibit Centered from the Reuben Saunders Gallery at 1516 Gallery, 2024. She presently has work in the display window at Anderson O'Brien. Recent awards include 2022 Artist of the Year, 2023 Outstanding Group exhibit Ebb and Flow, and Outstanding public art for Peace Mural.

BEVERLY TODD's art playfully dances with color & movement. Her large-scale abstract painting process is physical, using hardware store brushes, broken sticks, rags, and hands to drip, scrape, wipe, and pull paint across surfaces. She works in acrylic, oil, soft wax, and with paper. Growing up in rural Nebraska, Todd often escaped into the landscape-happily lost for hours in the open prairie that inspires her work. BART VARGAS is a visual artist, educator, and advocate from Bellevue, Nebraska. He received his BFA from the University of Nebraska Omaha and his MFA at the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities. He has exhibited nationally and internationally, and his work can be found in many collections throughout North and South America, Europe, Asia, and Australia. His works have also been featured in many publications including Sculpture Magazine, New American Paintings, and HGTV Magazine. Vargas lives with his wife, Bekah Jerde, and their more than seventy plants in Omaha, Nebraska, where they operate an international studio. Vargas is a Professor and Chair of Visual Arts/Graphic Arts at Iowa Western Community College in Council Bluffs, Iowa, and serves on several boards for local and regional nonprofit organizations that support the arts.

CHRISTINA RENFER VOGEL holds an MFA from the Massachusetts College of Art and a BFA from Temple University. In her work, plants and flowers celebrate vibrant life, fleeting pleasure, and overt beauty in the face of the tension and uncertainty of recent years. Exhibitions include a solo exhibition at Spalding Nix Fine Art (Atlanta, Georgia) and inclusion in the 2021 Atlanta Biennial at the Atlanta Contemporary (Atlanta, Georgia). Her work has been featured in New American Paintings, and she is a recipient of an Elizabeth Greenshields Foundation grant, among other awards. Vogel serves as a professor of painting and drawing at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga.

Wetjen studied printmaking at the University of Nebraska Omaha (BASA, 1998) and the Karel de Grote Hogeschool in Antwerp, Belgium. "I have been focused on painting for several years as a means of translating the images and ideas in my head to paper and canvas so I can share them with others. Recently, I've been integrating more 3-D work into my studio practice. The relationship between real-world objects and experiences is essential to my work, just as it's essential for us as humans to have real, present, physical experiences along with visual and intellectual ones. Our hands and bodies can see and sense in their own ways like our eyes and brain can. I like to create work that allows viewers to connect with memories that remind them of beautiful and peaceful places they have visited, moments where they have felt comfort and love, and the feelings that flow with those memories. My paintings are generally abstractions of landscapes and visual stories. My sculptural and installation work explores places and references to our natural environment using similar abstractions."

"As a therapist, I make art as a means to find a moment of stillness after a week of listening to other people's stories. I love painting, not only for the end product, but also for the suspension of time that happens during what Mihaly Csikszentmihaly describes as "flow state." Sometimes when I paint, the paint just seems to find its own way onto the canvas as though I am just the intermediary. My focus is often on water or sky, both elements that nourish us as humans."
