Omaha's MADS ANDERSON likes to think of his work as a basis for sparking visual conversations, ones that engage viewers in dialogues about organization amid chaos-and vice versa. Anderson has always been fascinated by life's inherent dualities: the secure sameness that guides our everyday lives despite the underlying reality that anything, and everything, can change in an instant. Yet this chaos is in itself a constant, an unpredictability we can predict with absolute certainty. Through his paintings and sculptures, Anderson seeks to address this duality. He combines color, pattern, and line into fluidly dynamic compositions in which each stroke and mark-no matter how small and apparently inconsequential-is unequivocally integral to the whole. Each part speaks to another, each one echoing, answering, questioning, and provoking endless responses and counter responses. These are the visual conversations Anderson hopes to start, ones that he hopes are equally thoughtful, challenging, perplexing, and playful-and perhaps even a little maddening.

JO ARCHULETA is a painter living in Kansas City, Missouri. Archuleta's work explores the mythology of womanhood and the complexity of identity. She is interested in exploring leisure, desire, pleasure, and "the specificity as a state of being." The bodies, figures, and spaces in her paintings are inherently idiosyncratic, which celebrates not only the painstaking way the works are made, but also the uneasy cultural position they occupy. She is interested in the complexity within the vapidness of beauty, vanity, and ego. These figures often find themselves in states of repose, and she feels that it's her position to critically celebrate and criticize the history of that trope. The hyper-feminine, overtly masculine power relationship in pastoral and nude painting is ever present in her work and research. She received her BFA from the Kansas City Art Institute.

SHAWN TESEO BALLARIN is an artist based in Lincoln, Nebraska. He holds a Fellowship at the Lux Center for the Arts and is represented by Modern Arts Midtown in Omaha. Ballarin earned his BFA from the University of Nebraska and attended graduate school at Illinois State University. His work spans a variety of media, including painting, printmaking, photography, video, and bookmaking. He is also a musician and founding member of Heavier Than Air, an experimental ensemble featuring video art with a live soundtrack. Ballarin's projects have included public murals, private commissions, teaching, and album art that appeared in Rolling Stone and Spin magazines. JUSTIN BELLER is a mixed-media artist known for work that represents both the physicality of space and the metaphysics of dreamlike states. In his paintings and wall installations he uses vertical and horizontal lines, blocks of colors, abstract freeforms, and geometric shapes to distill the essence of earth, sky, and water and to open closed interior surroundings. Movement, form, freedom, and time are integral components of his work, and they all combine to expand and extend confined interior spaces.
In his paintings, Beller replicates smooth, water-like surfaces and boundless, open skies to absorb viewers into quieter, more contemplative worlds that, while focusing them in the present, go beyond limited time constraints. His elongated freestanding sculptures and tapered wall installations similarly create the illusion of greater openness by bringing viewers' gazes upwards and outwards. The overall effect creates greater spatial awareness and a deeper appreciation of our immediate surroundings, ones that are ultimately as intimate as they are boundless.

JAMES BOCKELMAN is a professor of art at Concordia University Nebraska where he also serves as director of the Marxhausen Gallery of Art. He has been represented by Lo River Arts Gallery in Beacon, New York, the Karolyn Sherwood Gallery in Des Moines, and is currently represented by Circuitous Succession Gallery in Memphis, Modern Arts Midtown in Omaha, and Galerie Inga Kondeyne in Berlin. In addition to many regional and national group shows, Bockelman's art was featured in solo exhibitions at the Sheldon Museum of Art in Lincoln, the Museum of Nebraska Art in Kearney, the University of Nebraska Omaha, and the Kunstoffice in Berlin. HANA BROCK is an Omaha-based oil painter whose practice focuses on how architecture and forgotten spaces can act as a mirror of human emotions, influencing feelings of grief, loneliness, and abandonment. Her attraction to liminal spaces stems from the fact that they are created for the purpose of human use. As time passes and people move on, the space remains, being left behind with a collection of memories. These unknowable histories inspire Brock to see structures as living, silently existing, and observing how we interact with them. Capturing these structures at night, stripped of human interaction, and incorporating artificial light is her way of further enhancing our connection to spaces.
Brock has an associate degree in fine art from McCook Community College and a BFA from University of Nebraska Omaha. Since 2023, she has been a studio assistant for Mary Zicafoose.

RICHARD CHUNG (b. 1977, Honolulu, Hawaii) grew up in the California Bay Area. He received a bachelor's degree in studio art from the University of California, Berkeley, under the mentorship of Richard Shaw in 2001. Soon after college, Chung moved to Omaha, Nebraska, to work with renowned ceramic artist Jun Kaneko. During his time at Jun Kaneko Studio, he continued to develop and produce artwork, began showing his work through galleries, and received commissions from recognized public collections. His first solo show was in 2017 at the RNG Gallery in Council Bluffs. Chung continues to produce and exhibit work. His work is included in numerous private and public collections. As a ceramic artist, Chung's body of work consists of several series that he has developed over many years. His figurative work explores human emotions and connections, striving to convey their essence through the medium of clay. The Motion Series examines the transient nature of existence, inspired by his fascination with how time manifests and shapes our lives. Through these pieces, he aims to reflect the ever-changing human experience in its various moments. The dynamic lines in this series highlight the impermanence and constant motion inherent in life. The Figure Series delves into the lives of everyday people, and is a personal exploration where Chung seeks to convey our shared narratives. Rather than focusing on intricate details, He attempts to capture the liveliness and gestures that define the human experience. This approach allows him to highlight the broader aspects of human interaction and emotion. Chung's Smaller Works serve as experimental studies, offering him the freedom to explore color and surface treatments. They act as a playground for testing new ideas and techniques, contributing to the evolution of his larger works. Glaze Paintings, a recently developed series, recontextualizes traditional 2-D painting by using colored glazes as the primary medium. The imagery in these pieces are crafted entirely with glaze, showcasing the versatility and richness of this material. This approach reflects Chung's exploration of possibilities within ceramic art. All Chung's work is created solely using ceramic materials, occasionally employing epoxy to join larger pieces together.

JEWELYA COFFEY (b. 1991, Searcy, Arkansas) is a multidisciplinary artist and educator who makes two- and three-dimensional work. DEREK COURTNEY is a mixed-media artist living and working in Omaha, Nebraska. His abstract, mixed-media paintings draw from his personal experiences as a blue collar worker, displaced hillbilly, and borderline alcoholic. GREG EDMONDSON was raised in Oak Ridge, Tennessee. His work is informed by an early interest in the organic world and the inadequacy of language to fully describe one's experience of living in that world. Edmondson is the recipient of numerous grants and awards including Fulbright and DAAD fellowships to Germany, and residency fellowships to Artpark, the Virginia Center for the Creative Arts, the Santa Fe Art Institute and Kunstlerwerkstatt Lothringerstrasse. IAN ETTER (b. Elmendorf AFB, Alaska) draws inspiration from the designs adorning classical Greek vases, with their intricate patterns and minimalist palette, which find support in the mathematical underpinnings governing their design. Proportional relationships and geometric configurations serve as the guiding foundation, ensuring a harmonious interplay of surface and form. Recognizing the inherent power of these principles, he harnesses and expands upon them. Etter begins these drawings by combining digital sketches and AI-generated imagery, then layers, merges, and reduces them to a single image. He faithfully re-renders the digital compositions on paper using colored pencil and ink. The duality of the exterior silhouette and soft interior geometry serves as a visual bridge between the fluidity of touch and the precision of the depicted subject. At the heart of Etter's creative exploration lies a refined appreciation of the power of simplicity. He reduces his compositions to their essential elements through sparse yet deliberate frameworks. In his practice, Etter aspires to foster an engaging visual dialogue that transcends temporal boundaries and seamlessly weaves the past and the present together.
Etter received his MFA in Drawing and Intermedia from the University of Iowa in 2013. His work has been included in group shows at Tiger Strikes Asteroid in Brooklyn, New York, the Wassaic Project in Wassaic, New York, Ortega y Gasset Projects in Brooklyn, New York, Spring/Break Art Show in New York, New York, Collar Works in Troy, New York, with solo shows at Practice Gallery in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and Legion Arts in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Etter's drawings were featured in the Spring Issue 17 2020 of Art Maze Mag and included in multiple registries including White Columns in New York, New York, TSA in Brooklyn, New York, and Ortega y Gasset in Brooklyn, New York. His curatorial projects have been exhibited at Spring/Break art show for multiple years and featured on ARTNews.com. CATHERINE FERGUSON's work is featured in public and private collections across the region, including major Nebraska museums such as the Sheldon Museum of Art in Lincoln, the Museum of Nebraska Art, the University of Nebraska at Omaha, the Landmarks building, and the Omaha Public Library Main Branch. Ferguson is particularly well known for installations that are transcendent and transformative, and critics have noted the idealistic and often mythical quality intrinsic to her work. In the 2005 January/February issue of NY Arts Magazine, Kim Carpenter praised Ferguson's ability for "deftly weaving symbols universally inherent in myth, memory, mysticism, and metaphysics." And in the March 2007 edition of Review Magazine, Mike Krainak noted her "marvelous temple figures" and stated, "Ferguson's work certainly continues to be uplifting for both her and her viewer." Ferguson has also worked within the community to benefit the visual arts. She served six years as a board member for the Nebraska Arts Council and until recently also served on the board for Bemis Center for Contemporary Arts, an organization consistently listed in the top five of the nation's artist-in-residency programs. In 2018 at Modern Arts Midtown, Ferguson exercised her diversity and vision in large-scale steel sculpture, delicate wall relief wire motifs, and miniature cut-outs of her "All My People Series."

DANA FRITZ is currently a Center for Great Plains Studies Fellow and Hixson-Lied Professor of Art in the School of Art, Art History & Design at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. Her photographs and artist books have been exhibited nationally and internationally and collected by two dozen museums and libraries worldwide. In 2017, University of New Mexico Press published her monograph, Terraria Gigantica: The World under Glass, that included photographs made in her artist residency at Biosphere 2. Her second trade book, Field Guide to a Hybrid Landscape (University of Nebraska Press, 2023) deconstructs what was once the world's largest hand-planted forest. Her current work focuses on forests and grasslands and has been supported by residencies at Huron Mountain Wildlife Foundation in Michigan's Upper Peninsula, Tallgrass Artist Residency in the Kansas Flint Hills, and Cedar Point Biological Station and Homestead National Historical Park in Nebraska.

Omaha-based artist CAMILLE HAWBAKER VOORHEES uses a variety of "craft" traditions from printmaking, book arts, and textile arts to create mixed-media works. PHIL HAWKINS is a Los Angeles-based multidisciplinary contemporary artist focusing on installation and sculpture. Upon receiving his BFA from Bellevue University of Nebraska, Hawkins has worked in design, foundries, and fabrication studios with artist colleagues. Previously Hawkins's famous work studio was located in the historic First National Bank headquarters abandoned vault space built in 1917. Hawkins's explorations of architecture in US cities, overseas cities, and the Caribbean region have had a major influence on his work. MADDIE HINRICHS is an artist-in-residence at the Lux Center for the Arts in Lincoln, Nebraska. She received her MFA in 2022 from the University at Albany and was the recipient of the MFA Thesis Award. She received her BFA from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln in 2019. She works with oil painting and embroidery mediums that explore the psychology of interiors. The spaces she works with begin in reality and devolve into dreamscapes that reject logic and favor surrealism. CHARLES KAY JR. is a first-generation Thai American-born artist, born and raised in Omaha, Nebraska. In 1992 Charles graduated from Brooks Institute of Photography in Santa Barbara, California. JUSTIN N. KIM is a Korean-born painter who currently lives and works in Los Angeles, California. Kim paints color field paintings, maps, and circuit boards visualizing melded relationships and connections found within man-made subject matters and surroundings. LISSA SCOTLAND explores nature, flowers, landscapes, and the "pretty" subjects. She questions, "what makes something beautiful?" THERMAN STATOM is a sculptor/painter most notably known as a pioneer of the contemporary glass movement for his life-size glass ladders, chairs, tables, constructed box-like paintings, and small-scale houses-all created through the technique of gluing glass plates together. Sandblasted surfaces become a canvas for spontaneous vibrant colors and line work, which take nuances from Abstract Expressionism and concepts of Minimalism, while simultaneously incorporating a twist by using blown-glass elements and found objects. Throughout his career, public artworks have been permanently installed at prominent locations including the Los Angeles Public Library, Corning, Inc. BARBARA TAKENAGA is an abstract painter who makes images that are abstract and representational, microscopic and cosmic. "I celebrate my vibrant and colorful heritage with all its glory of patterns and textures and geometric form which innately exudes from me. My work is inspired by techniques used in batiking. BEVERLY TODD's art playfully dances with color & movement. MARGEAUX WALTER is based in Joshua Tree and utilizes mediums including photography, installation, video, and performance to portray issues related to conservation, climate change, consumption, and waste. She has received multiple honors from the Magenta Foundation, Aesthetica, HeadOn Photo Festival, Photolucida, Prix de la Photographie Paris, International Photography Awards, The Julia Margaret Cameron Award, and other organizations. She has been awarded artist-in-residence programs at organizations such as Montalvo Arts Center, MacDowell Colony, Yaddo, VCCA, JTHAR, BigCi in Bilpin, Australia (Environmental award) and at Joshua Tree National Park. Her work has been exhibited nationwide at institutions including MOCA in LA, Hunterdon Art Museum, The Center for Photography in Woodstock, Tacoma Art Museum, and the Griffin Museum of Photography. SOPHIA WEISENSEL was born and raised in rural Minnesota. She uses oil paint to create scenes from the Midwest, focusing on people and places familiar to her. She received her BFA in studio art in 2019 from Bethany Lutheran College. She moved to New York and pursued an MFA at the New York Academy of Art, graduating in 2021. Weisensel's paintings have been exhibited throughout the US and in Europe. She was the recipient of the 2022 Kylemore Abbey Art Residency in Connemara, Ireland and the 2023 Hale MFA Art residency in Nantucket, Massachusetts. Weisensel now lives and paints in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

SHEA WILKINSON has been creating with textiles since childhood. Wilkinson worked for several years in the medium of art quilts, but after moving to Russia in 2019, she pivoted to working with felted textiles. She is currently living in Russia and earning a degree in fashion and textile design. Wilkinson has exhibited widely in national juried exhibitions, such as Craft Forms, Materials: Hard & Soft, and Quilt Visions. She has received numerous awards, including the James Renwick Alliance's Chrysalis Award for a distinguished emerging artist. Her work is held in the collection of Tenaska, Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer LLP, and the city of Chandler, Arizona's quilt collection. Her work has been published in books and magazines around the world. Wilkinson is represented by Roberta and Bob Rogers Gallery in Omaha, Nebraska.
