JOE ADDISON is a photographer and printmaker who specializes in historic and experimental processes. When not working in the studio, Joe co-curates and is the Gallery and Facilities Coordinator at Petshop Gallery. SARA ALFIERI is from Lincoln, Nebraska and currently pursuing an MFA in ceramics. By using old and new mechanisms of working, digital fabrication in tandem with hand-built vessels allows her work to highlight resistances while finding ways to connect their potentials. The processes within her work remain critically important; its qualities are intrinsic to the expression of the object. Questioning the traditional method for mold-making used in industrial production, Alfieri seeks variety within her work. This sense of variety can be found through a modular mold system in which she deconstructs and reassembles mold parts produced from computer-aided design (CAD) developed prototypes. This, along with her colored slip application on plaster molds allows for variation in both form and surface. Moving from a digital to a physical space has allowed Alfieri to develop a duality of languages that can be translated to her designed pots. In short, Alfieri believes the pot exists beyond its purpose of utility. Through her most recent means of making, she is able to design and produce pots that investigate this idea. Pottery is meaningful in the way it allows for both personal expression and proximity between object and user. Alfieri is interested in pottery as an ingress to an experience. A pot solicits interaction, not just viewing. The meaning of a pot changes through experience, gaining content through use. By exploring the intersections between craft and design, she hopes to enhance the art and act of dining with a sense of complexity and intention in each piece's form and surface.

JO ARCHULETA is a painter living in Kansas City, Missouri. Archuleta's work explores the mythology of womanhood and the complexity of identity. She is interested in exploring leisure, desire, pleasure, and "the specificity as a state of being." The bodies, figures, and spaces in her paintings are inherently idiosyncratic, which celebrates not only the painstaking way the works are made, but also the uneasy cultural position they occupy. She is interested in the complexity within the vapidness of beauty, vanity, and ego. These figures often find themselves in states of repose, and she feels that it's her position to critically celebrate and criticize the history of that trope. The hyper-feminine, overtly masculine power relationship in pastoral and nude painting is ever present in her work and research. She received her BFA from the Kansas City Art Institute.

JON AUSTIN is a ceramic artist focused on natural and biomorphic forms. Austin has always been inspired by nature and can often be found outside drawing inspiration or eagerly awaiting spring during frigid Nebraska winters. Handbuilding has been his favorite way of expressing himself with clay. Pinch and coil techniques allow him to create the organic forms seen in his body of work. Austin enjoys using pinch pots in creative ways to show that the technique can be as complex and dynamic as other ceramic skills. Austin was a Brown Bar Artist-in-Residence and is currently a pottery teacher at Millard North High School and a Kent Bellows ceramics mentor. He has participated in the Mixin' it UP Exhibition at Hot Shops and the Millwork Commons Pride Fair. For two years, Austin was a Benson First Friday Pride Artist.

SHAWN TESEO BALLARIN is an artist based in Lincoln, Nebraska. He holds a Fellowship at the Lux Center for the Arts and is represented by Modern Arts Midtown in Omaha. Ballarin earned his BFA from the University of Nebraska and attended graduate school at Illinois State University. His work spans a variety of media, including painting, printmaking, photography, video, and bookmaking. He is also a musician and founding member of Heavier Than Air, an experimental ensemble featuring video art with a live soundtrack. LISA BANG HOFFMAN is a Minnesota native and a graduate of Gustavus Adolphus College. She moved to Nebraska to attend the University of Nebraska's Master of Fine Art program in photography, graduating in 1995. JESS BENJAMIN's imagination was trained in the irrigation ditches on the 100th Meridian and was one of the last to be educated in a two-room schoolhouse. Benjamin now lives in the city and has gained a balanced perspective on our nation's water and drought issues. Benjamin received her BA from Hastings College in 2001 and worked as a studio assistant for Jun Kaneko until 2006. In 2008, she received her MFA from Bowling Green State University, Ohio. She returned to Omaha the same year to pursue her research and to acquire studio space in which she could continue to make large-scale ceramic sculpture. Jess has exhibited her artwork at the Amarillo Museum of Art, Ellen Noel Art Museum, and Joslyn Art Museum. In 2013, the Nebraska Arts Council awarded her an Individual Artist Fellowship Grant. BEXO paintings are collaborations of sisters Rexo Droppers and Betni Kalk. Kalk is a designer, painter, muralist, and graphic design professor. Droppers is a musician, photographer, and painter. HANA BROCK is an Omaha-based oil painter whose practice focuses on how architecture and forgotten spaces can act as a mirror of human emotions, influencing feelings of grief, loneliness, and abandonment. Her attraction to liminal spaces stems from the fact that they are created for the purpose of human use. As time passes and people move on, the space remains, being left behind with a collection of memories. These unknowable histories inspire Brock to see structures as living, silently existing, and observing how we interact with them. Capturing these structures at night, stripped of human interaction, and incorporating artificial light is her way of further enhancing our connection to spaces.
Brock has an associate degree in fine art from McCook Community College and a BFA from University of Nebraska Omaha. Since 2023, she has been a studio assistant for Mary Zicafoose.

She layers antique collage alongside elements of painting and drawing, which provides the building blocks for studying and illustrating the complexities of what was, what is, and what could be. Brown earned an MFA from the School of Visual Arts in 2005 and a BA from Bennington College in 1996. During the summer of 2024, Brough was an art instructor at Squam Workshops in Hedalen, Norway and had work in Bridgette Mayer Gallery's 9th Benefit Exhibition, Converge, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

ANN BRUGENHEMKE is a painter, pastel artist, and ceramic artist living in Council Bluffs, Iowa. Her 2-D work focuses on imagery from nature with a strong emphasis on light source and high-contrast compositions. Her ceramic work ranges from controlled carving, as if drawing into the clay, in addition to organic shapes and vessels. She also makes ceramic sculptures, which utilize other materials such as wood, hardware, and string. Brugenhemke graduated from UNO in 1992 with her BFA with a thesis in painting. She has shown her work in local and regional galleries as a solo artist and with juried group shows since 2014. She has received three grants for her work since 2020. Brugenhemke lives with her daughter in an artist community in Council Bluffs.

SANDI BRUNS is a plein air watercolor painter that holds a BA degree in design and fashion from the University of Iowa and a BFA equivalent with an MFA in printmaking from the University of Hawaii. Her prints have won awards including a Purchase Award from the Smithsonian. In San Francisco, she exhibited in the '70s with the William Sawyer Gallery. In 1988 she co-authored and illustrated "Dress Smart" (Fairchild, New York), with a second edition in 2004. After raising children and doing commission work for over twenty years, she became involved in public art projects in both Omaha, Nebraska and Summit County. Bruns was a founding member of Summit County Women of Watercolor Plein Air Painters. One-woman shows include Breckenridge Theatre Gallery, Gallery 108, Sunderland Gallery in Omaha, and Summit County Art Council's Arts Alive Gallery. She was an invited artist for Wild About Colorado plein air festival from its inception in 2008, winning People's Choice and 2nd Place Overall awards for her watercolors in various years. Bruns is represented by Summit County Arts Council's Arts Alive Gallery.

KEITH D BUSWELL works with various printmaking processes such as screen-printing, intaglio, and mono printing, and dabbles in drawing and multimedia. Butler's multifaceted practice covers a wide spectrum that provides space for healing and comfort, abstract art, and a voice for social justice.
Butler's work tells the stories of her family history, which has been shaped by descendants from the African Continent, The Great Migration, redlining in Omaha, and the skilled work of her mother, grandmother, godmother, and women in her neighborhood who made magic with their hands. Butler has exhibited at the Burgwin Wright House Museum (Wilmington, North Carolina) and PACE (Council Bluffs, Iowa). Butler has been published in The New York Times and Washington Post and has had fellowships with The Union for Contemporary Art (Omaha, Nebraska), Omaha Public Schools, and Nelson Mandela Elementary School. RICHARD CHUNG (b. 1977, Honolulu, Hawaii) grew up in the California Bay Area. He received a bachelor's degree in studio art from the University of California, Berkeley, under the mentorship of Richard Shaw in 2001. Soon after college, Chung moved to Omaha, Nebraska, to work with renowned ceramic artist Jun Kaneko. During his time at Jun Kaneko Studio, he continued to develop and produce artwork, began showing his work through galleries, and received commissions from recognized public collections. His first solo show was in 2017 at the RNG Gallery in Council Bluffs. Chung continues to produce and exhibit work. His work is included in numerous private and public collections. As a ceramic artist, Chung's body of work consists of several series that he has developed over many years. His figurative work explores human emotions and connections, striving to convey their essence through the medium of clay. The Motion Series examines the transient nature of existence, inspired by his fascination with how time manifests and shapes our lives. Through these pieces, he aims to reflect the ever-changing human experience in its various moments. The dynamic lines in this series highlight the impermanence and constant motion inherent in life. The Figure Series delves into the lives of everyday people, and is a personal exploration where Chung seeks to convey our shared narratives. Rather than focusing on intricate details, He attempts to capture the liveliness and gestures that define the human experience. This approach allows him to highlight the broader aspects of human interaction and emotion. Chung's Smaller Works serve as experimental studies, offering him the freedom to explore color and surface treatments. They act as a playground for testing new ideas and techniques, contributing to the evolution of his larger works. Glaze Paintings, a recently developed series, recontextualizes traditional 2-D painting by using colored glazes as the primary medium. The imagery in these pieces are crafted entirely with glaze, showcasing the versatility and richness of this material. This approach reflects Chung's exploration of possibilities within ceramic art. All Chung's work is created solely using ceramic materials, occasionally employing epoxy to join larger pieces together.

JEWELYA COFFEY (b. 1991, Searcy, Arkansas) is a multidisciplinary artist and educator who makes two- and three-dimensional work. EVAN COLBERT is an artist living in Longmont, Colorado who has been producing paintings and prints since 1992. His work can be found in various collections such as The Jordan Schnitzer Museum of Art in Eugene, Oregon, The U.S. Department of State Art Library in Washington, DC, and The CU Denver College of Arts and Media Library. His recent lithographs have been published by Shark's Ink in Lyons, Colorado, and are based on a series of monotypes produced by the artist where he attempts to create satisfying abstract visual compositions using a process much like sketching, where he repeatedly layers color fields, patterns, arrays of shapes, and found imagery onto paper, until he is satisfied with the results (or ruins the piece). Colbert has had access to a lithography printing press for the past twenty-three years, which has allowed him to produce countless editioned lithographs and monotypes a few times a year. Since 2018, he has concentrated his efforts mostly on abstract monotypes and paintings. Colbert layers color flats, grids of shapes, and patterns with abstract imagery from photolithographic plates, as well as found physical objects such as bubble-pack and perforated metal, which he rolls with ink and prints in the press or by hand-burnishing.

JOY COTTON is a mixed-media artist based in Omaha, Nebraska. Cotton uses a combination of pencil, acrylic, watercolor, and oil to create paintings and murals. These works contain multiple layers of abstract and realistic forms through fashion and collage. In recent years, she has worked on projects with the Omaha Summer Arts Festival Cube Project, Benson First Fridays, Midtown Crossing Sunny Chair project, and Amplify Arts Alternate Currents Working Group 2022-2023/2024. Followed by published work in Next Soulmate Mag Issue 1 (New York, New York), The Gardyloo (Omaha, Nebraska), and American Civil Liberties Union Nebraska. She received her associate degree in general arts at Metropolitan Community College, and a BA in general studies from the University of Nebraska at Omaha. Cotton's process of painting and drawing is all based on curiosity and experimentation. She approaches her work through three main elements: color, balance, and form. Similar to a three-way intersection, in her creative process she must arrive at a stop and observe no matter where she goes. What she sees impacts not only her, but also others in passing. When creating pieces, Cotton considers how nothing can take form into something. Her creations are active in the sense they are stories told through the views of imagination. The most important question she asks herself while observing a blank canvas is how does she make something she can only see in her mind, and what will others feel when it takes physical form?

KEEGAN DUNN is a multidisciplinary artist from Omaha, Nebraska. Classically trained in Alternative Process photography and printmaking, Dunn uses techniques ranging from wet-plate collodion, silver printing and cyanotype to natural dyeing and eco printing to illustrate the relationship between mankind and the Platte River Basin. Dunn harbors an emotional and scientific relationship with the outdoors, and is a certified Master Naturalist in the state of Nebraska. They interned with Bemis Center during the summer of 2023 and have completed residencies at The Homestead National Historic Park (Nebraska) and the Cedar Point Biological Station (Nebraska). Dunn obtained a degree in applied sciences from MCC (Omaha) and is a student of plant biology at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. They are currently a member of the Nebraska-based Alternate Currents Cohort. As an ongoing research study, Dunn's body of work combines concepts of land rights, natural sciences, anthropology and regional history to redefine our relationship with the Platte River Basin. Their work employs human figures in tandem with motifs of floodplain ecology (old growth cottonwoods, fallen trees, marshlands, color studies) to trigger powerful symbolic and ethnographic memories within the viewer. Shared memory is a pillar of the psychological health of a human ecosystem, and from this both we and the natural world may benefit.

BETH FEIN is an interdisciplinary artist who grew up in the Hudson Valley and now lives in Berkeley, California. CATHERINE FERGUSON's work is featured in public and private collections across the region, including major Nebraska museums such as the Sheldon Museum of Art in Lincoln, the Museum of Nebraska Art, the University of Nebraska at Omaha, the Landmarks building, and the Omaha Public Library Main Branch. Ferguson is particularly well known for installations that are transcendent and transformative, and critics have noted the idealistic and often mythical quality intrinsic to her work. In the 2005 January/February issue of NY Arts Magazine, Kim Carpenter praised Ferguson's ability for "deftly weaving symbols universally inherent in myth, memory, mysticism, and metaphysics." MARCUS FISCHER is an interdisciplinary artist and musician based in Portland, Oregon. He is a first-generation American artist who creates, collects, and transforms sound into immersive, layered compositions that accompany performances and exhibitions. Site-specific assemblages of exposed speakers, tape loops, and objects are characteristic of his installations, paired with melodies of restraint and tension. He has released numerous recordings-both solo and collaborative-on 12k, a label that has decisively defined and developed its own concept of minimalism in the realms of experimental and ambient music. LAURIE FRICK uses data to examine what we can know about ourselves. In her hand-built installations, drawings, and small works she experiments with how we will consume the mass of data increasingly captured about us. She holds an MFA from the New York Studio School, an MBA from University of Southern California and studied at NYU's ITP program that melded art and technology into her current data work. DANA FRITZ is currently a Center for Great Plains Studies Fellow and Hixson-Lied Professor of Art in the School of Art, Art History & Design at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. Her photographs and artist books have been exhibited nationally and internationally and collected by two dozen museums and libraries worldwide. In 2017, University of New Mexico Press published her monograph, Terraria Gigantica: The World under Glass, that included photographs made in her artist residency at Biosphere 2. Her second trade book, Field Guide to a Hybrid Landscape (University of Nebraska Press, 2023) deconstructs what was once the world's largest hand-planted forest. Her current work focuses on forests and grasslands and has been supported by residencies at Huron Mountain Wildlife Foundation in Michigan's Upper Peninsula, Tallgrass Artist Residency in the Kansas Flint Hills, and Cedar Point Biological Station and Homestead National Historical Park in Nebraska.

EDUARDO GARDEA is a suggestive and impressionistic artist. Born in Texas, Gardea was raised in Nebraska, which influences his works. Utilizing a contemporary art foundation, Gardea's strength as a self-taught artist has enabled him to communicate modern and historic stories of personal and societal struggle and victory. Using a variety of mediums, Gardea summons a collective of ongoing ideas and feelings within the viewer.
Gardea specializes in creating what it means to bear witness to the untold stories of the underrepresented. Creating new perspectives of what he's seen or lived through, he challenges viewers to discover their unique place within a greater narrative. Using a range of mediums, his intention lies in updating the narrative of those who have been denied involvement in mainstream economic, political, cultural, and social activities. The modern day experiences of cycles of oppression, human migration, failures of democracy, success and struggles are more than the surface impressions of worn out narratives. Intentionality in his art doesn't lie in how realistic it appears; it rests quietly within the idea of the subject. Celebrating and sharing unique stories, his work speaks to the value in making space and raising immigrant, Indigenous, and blue collar people from the confinement of the lower or peripheral edge of society, as they are necessary and valuable contributions as we move forward.
Awards include an Amplify Artist grant (Omaha, Nebraska, 2023). Workshops include Emerging Artists at Samuel Bak Museum: The Learning Center (Omaha, Nebraska, 2024). NEIL GRIESS is a visual artist based in Omaha, Nebraska. He creates realistic paintings and drawings of landscapes such as preserved prairies and suburban spaces of personal significance. Through a combination of meticulous detail and soft distortion effects, the often overlooked beauty of the Great Plains is given a heightened focus. Griess has exhibited his work in the San Francisco Bay Area and in the Midwest, including at the Museum of Nebraska Art in Kearney, Nebraska. TIM GUTHRIE, the Joella Cohen Endowed Chair at Creighton University, is an Omaha-based multimedia visual artist and filmmaker. RAVEN HALFMOON is an artist and sculptor from Norman, Oklahoma. She is a citizen of the Caddo Nation and also Choctaw, Delaware, and Otoe Missouria. Working mainly in portraiture, Halfmoon hand-builds each work using a coil method. Her surfaces are expressive and show deep finger impressions and dramatic dripping glazes, a physicality that presences her as both maker and matter. She fuses Caddo pottery traditions-a history of making mostly done by women-with populist gestures, often tagging her work in a reference to Caddo tattooing.
Halfmoon holds a double bachelor's degree from the University of Arkansas, where she majored in ceramics/painting and cultural anthropology. In 2023, Halfmoon's solo exhibition, Flags of Our Mothers, was featured at The Aldrich Museum of Contemporary Art (Ridgefield, Connecticut) and in 2024 at Bemis Center for Contemporary Arts. Halfmoon's next solo exhibition, Neesh & Soku (Moon & Sun), opened at Salon 94 (New York, New York) in September 2024.
Halfmoon's sculptures are in the permanent collections of the Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art, the Detroit Institute of Arts, the Institute of Contemporary Art, Miami, and the Montclair Art Museum. In 2023, she was selected as an Eiteljorg Contemporary Art Fellow (Eiteljorg Museum, Indianapolis, Indiana), and in 2024, she was a finalist for the international Loewe Craft Prize (Loewe Foundation, Madrid, Spain). LAURA HALLEN is a multimedia artist, Master Gardener, herbalist, and Certified Aromatherapist. The ways in which she identifies herself as an artist and botanist are manifested in her work. She mimics intricate patterns of plants by abstracting them through a variety of media, including painting, mixed media, and installation. Hallen's art is an ongoing investigation of growing and interacting with plants, understanding their usefulness in our daily lives, and works based on her fascination with the botanical world. KRISTINE HANSEN-CAIN received a BFA from the University of Nebraska and studied at the Corcoran School of Fine Arts in Washington, DC. PHIL HAWKINS is a Los Angeles-based multidisciplinary contemporary artist focusing on installation and sculpture. RITTA IKONEN & ANNIE COLLINGE have collaborated since 2007. Collinge studied at Central Saint Martins and Brighton University, and is based in London and New York. BETHANY KALK is an artist, designer, and muralist. Her childhood was spent in Papua New Guinea, which influenced her love of pattern. She studied graphic design, painting, and drawing. She explores natural landscapes in search of references for abstraction, pattern, and her landscapes. She has exhibited in numerous locations including Milwaukee, Minneapolis, San Francisco, and Omaha. JUN KANEKO was born in Japan in 1942. He came to the United States in 1963 to study at Chouinard Institute of Art in Los Angeles, and became part of the Contemporary Ceramics movement in America in the late '60s and early '70s. The following decade, Kaneko taught at some of the nation's leading art schools including Scripps College, Rhode Island School of Design, and Cranbrook Academy of Art. Based in Omaha since 1986, Kaneko has worked at several experimental studios around the world. Over the course of his career he has partnered with industrial facilities to realize large-scale, hand-built sculptures. Kaneko is increasingly drawn to installations that promote civic interaction. He has completed over fifty public art commissions, including the most recent, Glass Tower, in downtown Lincoln, Nebraska. His artwork appears in numerous international and national solo and group exhibitions annually, and is included in more than seventy museum collections.

JUSTIN N. KIM is a Korean-born painter who currently lives and works in Los Angeles, California. TODD MCCOLLISTER has two art careers: sculptor and furniture maker. The sculptures are wood and mixed media (including wire, string, and found objects), and the furniture pieces are almost entirely wood. He earned a BFA in sculpture and photography in 1996 from Texas Christian University and an MFA in sculpture in 2000 from Stony Brook University. He then moved to New York City, first pursuing sculpture and shifting to furniture in 2006. In 2014 McCollister brought what he learned back to his hometown of Omaha, Nebraska, and founded Long Grain Furniture. He is an active member of the Omaha art community and believes in supporting his fellow artists as a path to everyone's success. He's currently running a monthly event series called "Final Fridays at Todd's," aimed at bringing the community together to make us all stronger through networking and sharing experiences and information. He's the 2022 recipient of the Omaha Entertainment and Arts Award for Outstanding 3-D Artist.

EAMON MCGIVERN (b.1990) is an artist from San Francisco who has spent the past seven years in the Bay Area painting portraits of queers, punks, and poets. More recently, he has been delving into the archives of twentieth century LGBTQ history, picking up strands from holes in the historical narratives in attempts to darn the tears between the past and present wrought by political oppression, transphobia, and the HIV/AIDS epidemic. His work feels into the sorrow born from the absence of the queer and trans people who would have been the teachers, mentors, parents, and grandparents of his generation and the effect their deaths have on contemporary life. He holds a BFA with honors in painting from the Pratt Institute, Brooklyn, New York and an MA in Fine Arts from the Chelsea College, London. ILAAMEN PELSHAW is a visual artist born in Guatemala and based in Omaha, Nebraska. She creates art that is colorful, warm, and happy as a celebration of her heritage. With a background in graphic design and illustration, her art has a distinctive, figurative graphic line, and is focused on storytelling. Pelshaw has participated in more than forty group exhibits in Omaha, Lincoln, Sioux City, Los Angeles, Santa Monica, San Diego, and Portland, in addition to three local solo shows. Her art can be found in private collections around Europe, Asia, Africa, and the Americas. Pelshaw was selected as the Omaha Summer Arts Festival Featured Illustrator for two years; a winner of the seventh edition of Latin American Illustration by AI/AP; a selected artist for the United States Department of State's Art in Embassies program, with the piece "United We Live" being displayed at the US Ambassador's residence in Kampala, Uganda; and featured in SINGULART Magazine from Paris as One of Seven Illustrators to Watch. Pelshaw's art is permanently displayed at the Omaha Public Library.

ANTHONY PENA is from Omaha, Nebraska, where he graduated from Omaha North High School and studied fine arts at the University of Nebraska Omaha. As an urban contemporary pop artist, Pena's color palette varies depending on the subject matter. A majority of his art centers around the American flag and the African-American experience, manipulating the red, white, and blue throughout his work to tell the story.
"I am a self-taught artist. My drawing called 'HOPE,' which went viral, was always turned into a mural. I was also one of the seventeen artists selected for the Omaha by Design Art+ infrastructure Metro ORBT utility box murals project which also won an OEAA Award for Outstanding Public Art. My latest projects are a veterans wall mural for Metro Area Transit and a Omaha Summer Arts Festival mural cube dedicated to Ukraine. I did a collab mural named 'Peace' with Artist Patty Talbert, a project by Omaha By Design and arts+ infrastructure, which was won an award for best outstanding public art."

KRISTAE PETERSON is a painter born in Minneapolis, Minnesota, living in Omaha, Nebraska. Believing that art evokes emotion through color, Peterson uses oil paint, oil sticks, livestock markers, fabric dye, and encaustic wax on canvas and wood. Her process is very tactile and intuitive. She received her BFA from the University of Nebraska Omaha, attended the Women's Art Institute in Minneapolis, Minnesota, and owned and operated Avenue Gallery in historic Dundee, Omaha. She is a past owner of Avenue Gallery in historic Dundee in Omaha, Nebraska. She had a featured show at Bemis, "Nebraska Rising," in 2016. BEN PLACZEK is a professional photographer based in Omaha, Nebraska. Through his work, he celebrates the vitality and delicate balance of our natural world. With degrees in photography from both the Art Institute of Colorado and Omaha's Metropolitan Community College, Placzek has worked as a commercial photographer for the past fifteen years. COURTNEY KENNY PORTO was born and raised in Omaha, Nebraska. She is known for her colorful acrylic paintings, surrealist animals, and yarn paintings. Porto's work focuses largely on humor, modern still life, and femininity. Porto graduated summa cum laude from Bethany College (Lindsborg, Kansas) with a BA in studio art. She has exhibited work in numerous juried and solo exhibitions, has been selected for several public art projects including Omaha Summer Arts Festival's mural cubes, and has work in private and corporate collections throughout the Midwest. Her work may also be seen on Tender & True's pet food packaging. JOSH POWELL is a mixed-media artist. He earned a BFA at the University of Nebraska Omaha. Powell is a visionary storyteller through his images. He is inspired by pop culture and folklore. Powell wants to convey to viewers a sense of powerful emotions through his 2-D narratives. He works mainly amongst the three rules of surrealism: juxtaposition, transformation, and dislocation. Powell has been a co-founder and co-curator of Project Project Gallery for the past ten years. He is also known for showcasing local artists through his co-curation of highly praised pop-up group shows in nontraditional spaces such as: Destroy Rebuild Repeat (2010), Science Fair (2011), and Bear Hug (2017). THOMAS PRINZ is the principal of Arc-Studio, which is located in Omaha and was established in 1990 to explore the disciplines of art and architecture. He received his undergraduate degree in architecture from the University of Nebraska and a master's degree from Southern California Institute of Architecture (SCOI-ARC) in 1988. He has been an adjunct professor and visiting critic at UNL School of Architecture. He has had exhibitions of his art and architecture at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, Creighton University, Projects in Des Moines, Circa Gallery in Minneapolis, and Gallery 72. Thomas was recently awarded first place for the international juried competition at the Los Angeles Center for Digital Art and was the featured artist at the opening of their new gallery space. MAKENZIE RAYMUNDO (BURMEISTER) is a mixed-media artist and educator living and working in Omaha, Nebraska. Originally from Gretna, Nebraska, Raymundo earned her BFA in art education with a specialization in ceramics from the University of South Dakota in 2020. During her time in undergrad, she also played soccer for the university. Raymundo then advanced to graduate school where she earned her MFA in ceramics from Kansas State University in 2023, where she maintained a Graduate Teaching Assistantship. Currently, Raymundo is an instructor of ceramics, teaching at the University of Nebraska Omaha. JODI REEB has been a full-time working artist creating paintings and sculpture and a teacher in Minneapolis for over twenty-eight years. She has taught encaustic workshops at the Essence of Mulranny in Ireland, Zijidelings in the Netherlands, Kunstfreiraum in Basel, Switzerland, and San Miguel De Allende. "Moving between two- and three-dimensional forms, I am constructing paintings and sculpture with repetition of forms and layer by layer. There are three main bodies of work I'm creating that are nature-inspired from landscapes, seed shapes, and organic forms. I am exploring the theme of nature's cycles through photo-based paintings, circular wall installations, and organic sculpture using steel wire and pleated aluminum. I am working to develop scale, geometry, spatial relationships, texture, and color. These works embrace the textural properties of encaustic (beeswax, pigment, and damar resin) paintings and sculpture with translucency and dimensionality. Strong physical elements come from layering and repeating organic forms."

GARET REYNEK was born in Omaha, Nebraska in 1986 and is currently based out of Omaha, Nebraska. He received a BA from Hastings College in ceramics and business in 2010, and as of 2018 Reynek earned a Masters in Fine Arts (ceramics) at Wichita State University. He has been a studio assistant to artists Jun Kaneko, Conrad Snider, and John Balistreri. Reynek has adjunct-taught at Butler Community College, Wichita State University, and Newman University. TIM RICKETT is an artist and educator based in northeastern South Dakota. CARLOS ROSALES-SILVA was born on the border of the United States and Mexico in El Paso, Texas. His studio practice considers the vernacular culture in the American Southwest, the western canon of art history, and the political and cultural connections and disparities between them. Carlos has exhibited throughout the United States and Mexico. He has been an artist-in-residence at Abrons Art Center in New York, New York (2021), Residency Unlimited in New York, New York (2020), Artpace in San Antonio, Texas (2018) and at Pioneer Works in Brooklyn, New York (2017). LISSA SCOTLAND explores nature, flowers, landscapes, and the "pretty" subjects. She questions, "what makes something beautiful?" Using layers of paint, Scotland creates depth within the piece, staying curious with her colors and marks. Her use of color is often bold and surprising. Born in 1978 in Omaha, Nebraska, Scotland grew up in the Midwest. She found painting to be a therapy for the crippling anxiety that had taken over her early years. Two decades of painting later, she now lives in Duluth, Minnesota where she has a home art studio. Scotland's resume includes several gallery shows within the Midwest. She has been a contributing artist to Bemis Center for Contemporary Arts for almost twenty years; her collectors include the Monroe Meyer Institute in Omaha, Nebraska and the Essentia Health Hospital in Duluth, Minnesota.

JEFF SEDREL works with ink and acrylic on paper or canvas in Omaha, Nebraska. Color is the central focus of Sedrel's series of floral paintings, executed by infusing ink and brush painting with impressionist sensibilities. Sedrel works towards an equilibrium between the inevitable metaphors and conventions of still life painting and his desire to communicate in the artistic language of present tense. Moving away from bouquet studies while still employing notions of floral blooms, his most recent works are harmonious color and composition studies that blur the line between impressionism and expressionism. Sedrel earned a BASA at University of Nebraska Omaha in 2012 and multiple OEAA nominations in 2020, 2021, and 2023. In 2017, he was a Union for Contemporary Art Fellow.

COLIN SMITH's paintings and sculpture expand the conventions of painting. Beginning with the joys of material, color, and the graphic image, Smith's newest works are aggressive, buoyant, and difficult to classify. The wall works reference minimal painting and expressionism, yet their colors and forms are fully contemporary. The floor sculptures are playful and casual, yet their offhandedness belies a rigorous process and intentional mark making. Smith is interested in making works that charge retinal and interior spaces. They move when you squint and can throw you off-balance if you get too close. His abstractions have a liveliness and spirit that is rare in contemporary painting, particularly in works that contain such a restrained and focused bag of tricks. Smith received his BFA in 1988 from the University of Nebraska Omaha (UNO) and his MFA in 1992 from Drake University. He teaches at UNO.

THERMAN STATOM is a sculptor/painter most notably known as a pioneer of the contemporary glass movement for his life-size glass ladders, chairs, tables, constructed box-like paintings, and small-scale houses-all created through the technique of gluing glass plates together. Sandblasted surfaces become a canvas for spontaneous vibrant colors and line work, which take nuances from Abstract Expressionism and concepts of Minimalism, while simultaneously incorporating a twist by using blown-glass elements and found objects. Throughout his career, public artworks have been permanently installed at prominent locations including the Los Angeles Public Library, Corning, Inc. Headquarters, the Mayo Clinic, San Jose Ice Center, the Toledo Museum of Art, and the Jepson Center for the Arts in the Telfair Museum, Savannah as well as several hospitals across the country. His artwork appears in numerous exhibitions annually, including solo and group shows around the nation and internationally. Statom has completed over thirty large, site-specific installations. Most notably, his 2009 solo exhibition, Stories of the New World at the Orlando Museum of Art, spanned over 7,000 square feet and has been his largest installation to date. Much of the latter half of Statom's career has been focused on the importance of educational programming within the arts. He has taken a deep interest in employing workshops as a catalyst for social change and in effect, positively impacting a community. Statom studied at Pilchuck Glass School, received a BFA from Rhode Island School Of Design, and later studied at the Pratt Institute of Art & Design.

Vallauris ceramics resident in France in 2017 and a PADA resident in Portugal in 2022. The Omaha Entertainment and Arts Awards nominated Stoler as "Outstanding Emerging Visual Artist" in 2022. Stoler is currently represented by Anderson O'Brien Fine Arts in Omaha, Nebraska.

IGGY SUMNIK is well-known to the Omaha art community as a talented ceramic sculptor, artist, community arts educator, friend, and studio host. His many Omaha accomplishments include a Kaneko apprenticeship concluded in 2008. Iggy held connections between Omaha and his Detroit home where he maintained the Art By Iggy Studio full-time. His iconic works include jellybeans, stylized fish, birds (often on a wire), and other forms. Iggy's real love was creating imaginative, one-of-a-kind sculptures of unusual shape and statement; he left a legacy of sculptures when an illness unexpectedly took his life in 2023. Two pieces are presented here.
In Iggy's words, "My art merges the natural world and industry, not in a negative way, but in a more ambiguous and thought-provoking way. I like my audience to do a little thinking for themselves, so I tend not to give people the answer."

BARBARA TAKENAGA is an abstract painter who makes images that are abstract and representational, microscopic and cosmic. Exhibitions include DC Moore Gallery in New York City, a twenty-year Survey at the Williams College Museum of Art; wall installations at Space/42 of the Neuberger Museum and MASS MoCA; and a two-person show at Bemis Center for Contemporary Arts. Public works include the MTA Arts mosaic and glass installations at the Metro North Station in White Plains, New York and a thirty-foot mosaic wall at NYU Langone. Her twenty-year survey was accompanied by an illustrated book, with an essay by curator Debra Bricker Balken, published by Delmonico|Prestel in 2017. She is a 2020 recipient of a Guggenheim Foundation fellowship and represented by DC Moore, Robischon Gallery, Pamela Salisbury Gallery, and by print publishers Shark's Ink and Wingate Studio. Takenaga lives in New York City and is a Professor Emerita at Williams College.

PATTY TALBERT holds a BFA in studio art.
"I celebrate my vibrant and colorful heritage with all its glory of patterns and textures and geometric form which innately exudes from me. My work is inspired by techniques used in batiking. When the elements of batiking are translated onto wood or canvas, there is a layering of different colors, patterns, and textures. The relationship between these three elements create a unique harmony within the elements of each design. Through the years, my work has changed and evolved, giving me a sense of purpose and a vehicle to express my feelings and desires. My style of painting has allowed me to encompass methods of expression utilized by my ancestors and adds a modern relevance to my growth as a proud black female artist. Through my work I have created three layers of stimulation by using layers of colors, textures and lines within each design. Your eye stimulation is my inspiration. I am exploring what happens with lines and within lines of colors because the way colors change next to another color excites me."
Talbert's recent exhibitions include the group exhibit Centered from the Reuben Saunders Gallery at 1516 Gallery, 2024. She presently has work in the display window at Anderson O'Brien. Recent awards include 2022 Artist of the Year, 2023 Outstanding Group exhibit Ebb and Flow, and Outstanding public art for Peace Mural.

MICHAEL TEGLAND's artwork is deeply rooted in several cultural influences, especially his own Norse and Germanic heritage. This may account for his work's black on black palette and images of both obscure and familiar figures embedded or flowing in a web of geometric patterns. Tegland attended the University of Nebraska Omaha, where he studied fine arts. Equally influential was Tegland's thirty-year stint as chief preparator at Joslyn Art Museum. The artist credits this experience in art management for the delicate attention to detail appreciated in his work. He primarily uses graphite and latex on panel and is based out of Omaha, Nebraska. Tegland's artwork resides in numerous private and public collections, including the private collection of the Sheldon Museum of Art, Lincoln, Nebraska. He is represented by Modern Arts Midtown.

DOROTHY TUMA, a native Nebraskan, is best known for her black and white architectural photographs. She attended the University Nebraska-Lincoln and received a theology degree from Creighton University. Recently she has turned to fabric art to recreate her artistic visions. She enjoys the tactile creation process, working in abstract form on fabric as the canvas with various techniques. AMANDA VALDEZ's works begin with the act of drawing and reference landscape, physical experiences, archaeological objects, and architecture that she encounters in her research and travel. KATHLEEN VAN LIEU is self-taught, her painting style gathering elements from artistic movements she has found inspiring. Now working in acrylic and oil, she gradually became more abstract and experimental. Retiring from Nantucket Island, Massachusetts where she exhibited for twenty-five years, she relocated to Omaha in November 2019. Soon the pandemic presented an opportunity to thoroughly explore a new aesthetic. Van Lieu has garnered some local notice since moving to Nebraska. She was selected to participate in BOLD, the Bouteloua LitArt Fest, Pierce St. Pop Up, the Omaha Summer Arts Festival Mural Project, the Omaha Library Power of Story in Art, and All Nebraska Art Clubs Conferences, among numerous others. She has recently been selected by the Nebraska Arts Council for a solo show at the Governor's Mansion in Lincoln, scheduled for 2027. She currently shows with MoonRise Gallery and Cali Commons.

BART VARGAS is a visual artist, educator, and advocate from Bellevue, Nebraska. He received his BFA from the University of Nebraska Omaha and his MFA at the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities. He has exhibited nationally and internationally, and his work can be found in many collections throughout North and South America, Europe, Asia, and Australia. His works have also been featured in many publications including Sculpture Magazine, New American Paintings, and HGTV Magazine. Vargas lives with his wife, Bekah Jerde, and their more than seventy plants in Omaha, Nebraska, where they operate an international studio. Vargas is a Professor and Chair of Visual Arts/Graphic Arts at Iowa Western Community College in Council Bluffs, Iowa, and serves on several boards for local and regional nonprofit organizations that support the arts.

LAURIE VICTOR KAY (b. 1971) is a multidisciplinary artist whose work blurs the lines between photography, painting, installation and digital mediums to address constructed imagination, idealization and a sense of the surreal. Her various bodies of work range from photographic series that reimagine and abstract the everyday to autobiographical mixed-media series that examine the psyche, vulnerability, and contemporary culture. CARLIE WAGANER is a collector, weaver, and perpetual novice. Her material practice includes marbling, fabric manipulation, collage, categorizing, coding, weaving, drawing, baking, journaling, and list-making. DENNIS D WATTIER's goal is to create works of art that highlight his turning and carving skills in a creative manner but also in some cases, to tell a story. He has created his own unique style and uses special techniques to create intricately designed vessels and bowls. The use of different laminated hard woods in his work has been evolving to include more sculptural forms, which add a certain vitality and creative edge to the vessels. His work has been shown locally as well as in venues throughout the midwest where he has won awards, such as Best of Sculpture in the 2020 Nebraska Biennial at the 1516 Gallery, Omaha and first place at the twelfth annual juried show, Norfolk Art Center, Norfolk, Nebraska.

SOPHIA WEISENSEL was born and raised in rural Minnesota. She uses oil paint to create scenes from the Midwest, focusing on people and places familiar to her. She received her BFA in studio art in 2019 from Bethany Lutheran College. She moved to New York and pursued an MFA at the New York Academy of Art, graduating in 2021. Weisensel's paintings have been exhibited throughout the US and in Europe. She was the recipient of the 2022 Kylemore Abbey Art Residency in Connemara, Ireland and the 2023 Hale MFA Art residency in Nantucket, Massachusetts. Weisensel now lives and paints in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

"I have been focused on painting for several years as a means of translating the images and ideas in my head to paper and canvas so I can share them with others. Recently, I've been integrating more 3-D work into my studio practice. The relationship between real-world objects and experiences is essential to my work, just as it's essential for us as humans to have real, present, physical experiences along with visual and intellectual ones. Our hands and bodies can see and sense in their own ways like our eyes and brain can. I like to create work that allows viewers to connect with memories that remind them of beautiful and peaceful places they have visited, moments where they have felt comfort and love, and the feelings that flow with those memories. My paintings are generally abstractions of landscapes and visual stories. My sculptural and installation work explores places and references to our natural environment using similar abstractions."

SHEA WILKINSON has been creating with textiles since childhood. "As a therapist, I make art as a means to find a moment of stillness after a week of listening to other people's stories. I love painting, not only for the end product, but also for the suspension of time that happens during what Mihaly Csikszentmihaly describes as "flow state." Sometimes when I paint, the paint just seems to find its own way onto the canvas as though I am just the intermediary. My focus is often on water or sky, both elements that nourish us as humans."

MARY ZICAFOOSE is a tapestry weaver who works from her rural Pahuk studio in Cedar Bluffs, Nebraska. The template of her work in cloth and paper is drawn primarily from two sources: the landscape of the Great Plains and a fascination with archetypal symbols, deeply color saturated and technically layered using the complex resist-dye process known as ikat. Her work is exhibited and collected internationally, including the International Triennial of Tapestry, Lodz, Poland; Museo de Textil, Oaxaca, Mexico; China National Silk Museum, Hangzhou, and the collections of eighteen United States Embassies on four continents. MICHAEL ZIMMERMAN is an optical artist currently living in Council Bluffs, Iowa. His artwork typically includes illusory elements that evoke a sense of movement. He uses a pen plotter with primarily alcohol-based ink markers and pigment pens on large format bristol paper to physically realize his concepts in the cleanest way possible. Zimmerman is a self-taught artist who has shown his work in a handful of local galleries in the past few years, such as NWU's Elder Gallery, the BFF Gallery, Split Gallery, Harvester artist lofts, and the Star Deli gallery.
