2024 Virtual Frosty 5K
2024 Frosty 5K Run for Adoption
August 9-25, 2024
The annual Frosty 5K Run for Adoption is hosted by The Wendy's Company to benefit its charity of choice, the Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption. The 2024 virtual event will raise funds and awareness for the Foundation's mission.
The Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption is a national, nonprofit public charity on a mission to dramatically increase the number of adoptions of children waiting in North America's foster care systems.
Every dollar raised through the Frosty 5K helps expand the reach of the Foundation's national awareness campaigns and innovative programs, such as Wendy's Wonderful Kids . Through this program, the Foundation supports the hiring and training of adoption recruiters who serve the longest-waiting children in foster care across the U.S. and Canada. That includes teenagers, children with special needs and siblings who are too often overlooked.
Dave Thomas always said, "These children are not someone else's responsibility. They are our responsibility."
With help from generous donors who take Dave Thomas' words to heart, more than 14,000 children have been adopted through Wendy's Wonderful Kids across the U.S. and Canada. But our work will not be complete until every young person has a safe, permanent place to call home.
Your participation in the 2024 Frosty 5K can change the life of a waiting child. Learn more steps you can take to help at davethomasfoundation.org.
Success Story
For more than three years, Isaiah, Jordan and Sophia lingered in foster care. The siblings bounced from house to house, often separated from one another.
Thankfully, they were reunited and adopted by Shane and Adrian with support from the Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption and their Wendy's Wonderful Kids recruiter, Anna.
Throughout the adoption process, Anna ensured that Isaiah, Jordan and Sophia felt comfortable, seen and heard.
"Anna helped me to stop overthinking about not getting adopted. She helped me with believing that I will get adopted eventually," said Isaiah.
Today, the siblings are free to dream about their future. Isaiah is considering college, Jordan is looking into pursuing the arts, and Sophia plans to be, as she says, the "queen of the castle."
"For our family, adoption means that our children don't have to worry one more second about when they're going to be asked to leave or what bed they will sleep in next," shared Adrian. "They know that they have a home for life."
