About Abilis

Who We Are:

Abilis is a 501 (c) (3) nonprofit organization that provides services and supports for more than 800 individuals with disabilities and their families from birth throughout their lives. Founded in 1951, Abilis is a leader serving the special needs community in Fairfield County, Connecticut, in the towns of Darien, Greenwich, New Canaan, Norwalk, Ridgefield, Stamford, Westport and Wilton. What We Do:

Starting with its Birth to Three program, Abilis provides early intervention and customized therapies, as well as family education and advocacy, to help individuals achieve important developmental milestones. Early supports and programs are provided at  the Therapy Center at Abilis. As individuals grow older, Abilis has programs and activities for all ages.  When an individual approaches and enters adulthood, Abilis provides a wide range of Life Services programs, including recreational activities, transition and life skills support, job training, competitive and supported employment, and a choice of residential options.

Abilis believes that those with disabilities have the same rights as everyone. They are entitled to good health care and safety, meaningful choices, achievement, friendship, fulfilling work and a comfortable place to live.

Where Are Your Donations Going?

This year, funds raised at Dancing Stars of Greenwich will be restricted to the development and renovation of a new Abilis Gardens & Gifts shop. Located in the Glenville section of Greenwich, our retail shop is integral to our mission, offering retail job skills training and meaningful employment opportunities for individuals with disabilities.

Abilis Gardens & Gifts is one of seven businesses owned and operated by Abilis, each playing a pivotal role in empowering individuals with disabilities to achieve greater independence and self-sufficiency. Your support at Dancing Stars of Greenwich will directly impact the lives of individuals with disabilities by creating a vibrant new space where they can learn, grow, and thrive.
