Afton Fraser, born and raised in New York, is a former actress who has appeared in film and television.
She developed a love for classic movies at a young age, which led to the publication of her first book "Hollywood Picks The Classics."
Her second book "Point To Happy" was a collaboration with her mother and sister addressing children on the autism spectrum.
Afton lives in Greenwich, with her three sons Griffin, Holden and Leland.

She hopes to channel her inner Ginger Rogers to raise money for a cause close to her heart. Her son Griffin is a child with autism, and Abilis provides services and support for those with special needs. Abilis works to create lives of joy and meaning for these vulnerable members of society.

Says Elaine, "I began my career as an elementary school teacher. I had four children of my own and am now the proud grandmother of eight.

Dancing is my hobby and passion. I started dancing for fun as a child. I loved to dance "rock 'n' roll" as a teenager.

One day, I tried the waltz and wanted to learn it. I found Fred Astaire Studios and have been a student for over 15 years. I love it and often encourage others to give it a try! I believe dance is a healthy option to a social sport. I've met wonderful people and have had lots of fun.

I have always been attracted to organizations and causes that help the lives of children and those in need of extra assistance. I'm excited to support Abilis, and be a part of this fun event!"

Shari graduated from Bucknell University with a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering. She also completed her MBA from Cornell University.

Shari is an active volunteer in both the New York City and Greenwich, CT areas. She served as treasurer of The New York Jr. League and on the Board of Directors for five years.

Shari served on the Round Hill Nursery School Board and is currently on the Greenwich United Way Board of Directors. She chairs the Community Planning Council of Greenwich and is also a member of the Bruce Museum Development Committee, New Bruce Campaign, and a former chair of the Bruce Gala. She recently chaired the Greenwich Tree Conservancy Tree Party.

Born and raised in New York City, Robin Arnold is a proud Mom and Grandma. She has a Masters in Deaf Education and taught at Lexington School for the Deaf. Robin does Pet Therapy work with her Standard Poodle at Memorial Sloan Kettering Hospital.

Robin has traveled the world. She is an avid hiker-summiting Mt. Kilimanjaro and trekking to Mt. Everest Base Camp. Robin is also a former marathon runner with three marathons under her belt. As someone who has always loved dancing and has a background with the special needs population, Robin feels this is a great way to combine two of her passions to help a wonderful cause.

Robin is volunteering at Abilis and preparing for her debut at the Dancing With the Stars event. Her spine is fused with titanium rods and screws as a result of severe scoliosis (from T9 to her sacrum), but she is always ready to dance!

Heather (Rosenstein) Sarachek grew up in New Jersey and developed a passion for sports at an early age, instilled by her father, a lifelong NY Giants fan. Her only experience with organized dancing was a year of ballet classes she took in her youth. Flash forward, Heather loves to run and has completed several New York City Marathons with a PR of 3:44. She also enjoys skiing, tennis, cycling, swimming, and anything that involves being active outdoors with her family and friends. Professionally, she received an MBA from Columbia Business School and has always worked in the investment world, for the past 8 years as a Financial Advisor in Private Wealth Management.

Heather attended the 5th Annual Greenwich Dancing Stars last year at the invitation of good friends who introduced her to Abilis. She was immediately drawn to the people and the incredible work they do. Both she and her husband Joe have gotten involved since then. Heather, by making her debut in Dancing with the Stars, and Joe by becoming an Abilis employment partner, employing an Abilis community member working part time for his law firm.

Heather resides in Scarsdale and has 5 adult children, Jake, Sydney, Josh, Jason and Spencer. She loves to spend time with them playing sports, traveling and cooking healthy meals. Along with her parents, Nancy and Harry, family and close friends, they are excited to see her dance! She is grateful to Elmar and his team for their great instruction and to Afton for the warm welcome and encouragement.

Carly Samalin, a junior at Greenwich High School, is thrilled to be back at Dancing Stars and pursuing her passion for dancing. She has been volunteering at Abilis and is eager to raise funds for this organization. In 2022, Carly won the Greenwich Dancing Stars dance competition and was also the People's Choice Winner. This year, she will be competing with her amateur dance partner instead of a professional dance instructor. Your donations will cheer on Carly and her partner as they compete as the first junior amateur couple.

Isabelle Vanneck is a world traveler and former interior designer based in Greenwich. Passionate about exploring new cultures and design styles, she drew inspiration from her global adventures to create unique and captivating spaces for her clients. When she's not off on a new adventure, Isabelle enjoys her home, her family, and her beloved Dachshunds.

I am passionate about Abilis because it has helped me gain confidence and independence and it has helped me with landing jobs and volunteering in my community. Abilis touches my heart very deeply and I am extremely thankful to have Abilis in my life.

This is my first time that I am participating in an event like this. I love performing in my Abilis Musical Theater class and I am excited to branch out and participate in Dancing Stars this fall. Of course we are all nervous at first but I just want to bring everything I've got to the table. The best thing I can do is not let the nerves get to me.

Doing the Dancing Stars for Abilis gives me the opportunity to showcase what I love. Music is my passion. I have never taken a dance class and I'm ready to try it and have fun.

Sara grew up here in Riverside, CT and after a few stints living in other places - New York City, Nicaragua, Mexico, London and Marblehead, MA - she and her husband Ed, who is also a Riverside native, moved back to Riverside with their three children.

Sara taught high school Spanish for many years, and also worked in the field of public health working on maternal and child health programs in Latin America. She is involved with outdoor education programs and organizations in both Greenwich and Jackson, WY as a volunteer and as a board member.

She is an outdoor enthusiast, loves to ski, play tennis and pickleball, sail and hike. Now that her children are out of college and in the working world, she and her husband spend most of their winters in Wyoming where they love to enjoy all things winter. This is her first time as an Abilis Dancing Star!

Michela grew up bilingually in Italian and German and lived in both countries for many years. Michela holds an M.A. in Political Science, Italian Philology, and Transport Management and a Ph.D. in Italian Philology from the University of Bonn, Germany as well as a Certificate in Early Childhood Education from the Westchester Community College in Valhalla, NY.

Michela has been working at many different schools and school types and can now look back onto 19 years of vast teaching experiences from several countries, Germany, the UK, and the USA. She has been the principal and president of the German School of Connecticut since 2021. Michela lives in Rye, NY with her husband and their two daughters.

Anja is a mother of five, a soldier's wife and has been living in New York with her family and dog since the beginning of the year.

Anja is the founder of Meno Balance Fitness and has more than 25 years of experience as a licensed fitness coach. Her innovative and holistic training concept is specifically tailored to the needs of women in menopause.

With her passion for exercise and health, Anja inspires and motivates women to master their menopause with strength and self-confidence.
