Bridge @ Lewisburg Jenna Suggs
$290Jenna Suggs is one of two winners of this year's ArtsGala Art competition and was chosen by the ArtsGala host committee to be featured at this year's event. She is an Art BFA major, due to graduate this Fall with a split concentration in painting and printmaking. Jenna is currently researching internship opportunities to pursue after graduation, planning to continue her education and obtain a K-12 teaching certification or licensure to become an art teacher.
Her beautiful artwork, Bridge at Lewisburg is a woodcut print in black ink that began as just another beginner printmaking assignment but turned into so much more as she developed it. Jenna shares that the objective was to create an image from observation incorporating the use of black and white lines.
"I invite viewers to look at the work and explore the interplay of absence and presence. The contrasted bold black bridge is created only through the use of the negative space that cradles it. You must push yourself to look past the subject matter and engage in the surrounding elements. As the eye wanders around the print, I hope my piece offers a moment of pause and a chance to get lost in the complexity and simplicity of the lines that create an appreciation for the negative space which too often gets unseen or overlooked".
Size with frame: 21" w x 27" h x 1 1/4" deep
Framing donated by House of 10,000 Picture Frames.

Not a Solo - Alexis McCormick
$250Alexis McCormick is one of two winners of this year's ArtsGala Art competition and was chosen by the ArtsGala host committee to be featured at this year's event. They are an Art BFA major, taking as many studio art classes as they can until their GI bill runs out - potentially in 2026.
Alexis's piece, Not a Solo, is an acrylic, water, and micron painting on canvas that they say is about friends in unlikely places, and about how lonely some have had to feel to create.
"I want to appeal to the heart, not the head. However, if your head is telling you that you should bid again, I think you should listen to it".
We love their sense of humor and laughingly agree with them!
Size with frame: 11" w x 21" h x 1" deep
