"Ice Cream" represents the best of times. A universal comfort food. A moral food. A luxury and privilege. "La Dolce Vita" or the 'Sweet Life".
"A new form of terrorism" has many faces but refers to the use of force to hurt, oppress, damage or destroy someone or something to achieve power, financial gain, a political, religious, social, racial or ideological goal.
Words and imagery can elicit strong emotional, subconscious, visceral responses on a spectrum of joyous to repulsive. The uncertainty that comes from holding two contradicting emotions at once can be unsettling and confusing.
Observing polarities in a work of art is both a hopeful and frustrating quest, sifting between challenging opposites. While contemporary art hopes to provoke thought, feelings, ideas, and open dialogue, it is each participant's journey.
