For students, summer programs holds immense importance in fostering academic advancement and personal growth. For many of our students, the summer break can exacerbate existing educational disparities and lack of access to enriching activities and resources. Our summer bridge program provides a structured and supportive environment where students can continue their learning journey, preventing the summer slide and bridging the achievement gap.

Our student advocacy committees are designed to elevate and amplify the real-time and community-rooted expertise of students on education issues impacting them directly.

Across five high school campuses, approximately 60 students actively engage in these committees. Every month, these dedicated students come together to delve into critical advocacy priorities, including digital equity and social-emotional learning in education.

In 2023, we hosted our first CISLA Senior Graduation Dinner. The dinner is a special opportunity to celebrate and honor our graduating seniors for their accomplishments and commitment to finishing high school. Last year we worked directly with 90 seniors across five high schools and 99% of them graduated.

CISLA is committed to ensuring students stay in school and achieve in life. The prospect of attending college can seem out of reach. Limited exposure to college campuses and the higher education environment can create barriers to envisioning themselves pursuing post-secondary education. College field trips provide invaluable opportunities for students to step onto campuses, interact with college students and faculty, and envision themselves as part of the collegiate community.

For many low-income students, the journey beyond high school graduation is filled with challenges and obstacles. Financial constraints often hinder their ability to pursue higher education or access vocational training programs. Navigating the complex landscape of college applications, financial aid, and career options can be overwhelming, especially without adequate guidance and support.

When parents are actively engaged in their children's learning, students are more likely to succeed academically, develop positive attitudes toward school, and achieve their full potential. Parental involvement fosters a supportive home environment where students feel valued, encouraged, and empowered to excel in their academic endeavors.

We're rallying support for one of the most fundamental aspects of student success: meeting basic needs. At CISLA, we recognize that when students have their basic needs met, they can focus on learning and thrive in school. When students' basic needs are met, they are better equipped to thrive academically and socially. By supporting basic needs initiatives, we are not just addressing immediate challenges; we are investing in the long-term success and stability of our students.

ABOUT CAMP WOODCRAFT
It has never been more important for kids to GROW, CONNECT, and PLAY together in nature.

Camp Woodcraft, one of California's original summer camps, will host its 102nd summer of fun at Mountain Center
near idyllic Idyllwild! Led by skilled, certified, year-round youth workers, Camp Woodcraft counselors guide
campers through a wide range of specialty activities, including archery, rock wall climbing, naturalist-led
exploration, classic camp traditions and much more.

This summer, experience camp magic with the whole family! Family Camp is offered over 3 days and 2 nights
and welcomes families with children and adults of all ages.
