The sadness, worry and helplessness watching Emma suffer through cancer and the unrelenting two year treatment stirred then provoked my imagination and expression of trauma onto canvas.

The painting titled "Remission", captures our shared suffering in unpredictable seas. Emma's journey is expressed with dark, rough waves represented by her challenges and brighter skies as her future. "Breaking Free" expresses the conflictual feelings of loss and rebirth watching Emma's innocence slowly dissipate only to see her emerge as a "Warrior". As Emma began to blossom, we could once again, envision a bright and wondrous future ahead.
