BJBE has a beautiful musical worship program, led by our two Cantors - at our Mizmor L'Shabbat service the first Friday of every month, at the weekly Kol Shabbat services, and at our High Holy Days. Our program includes a range of musicians, including our BJBE Adult Choir; Teen Choir and Band; The Kol Simchah Junior Choir, and our amazing T'filah Band.
Inclusion means that all people, regardless of their ability, have the right to be a valuable and participating member of their community. In connection with our Jewish values and Congregation BJBE's mission, our inclusion program is dedicated to creating a welcoming and accessible community for people with disabilities and their families. Our Jewish Learning Center has a Special Needs Coordinator. The goal of his/her work is to provide a safe and nurturing Jewish education within the general BJBE classroom for students requiring additional support or accommodations.
Our Artist/Scholar-in-Residence supports a short visit to BJBE of a prominent scholar or artist/musician who comes to the congregation to lead seminars and small discussions. Past visiting Scholars/Artists have included authors, historians, videographers, singer/songwriters, and vocalists/guitar players.
BJBE has a robust Adult Education/Lifelong Learning program, including Torah Study, Talmud Study, Adult B'nai Mitzvah/Confirmation, and our weekly series of lecturers. We have a wide range of adult learning courses for every age and place in life, including on Wise Aging, Preparing for the High Holy Days, Lessons from the Hall of History, A Taste of Judaism, and Family & Parenting at Every Stage.
Support BJBE's robust multi-generational social action program, whether through Project Nourish (where volunteers gather monthly in BJBE's kitchen to pack and deliver lunches to help feed people who need extra food); participating in marches and rallies ( such as the March for our Lives or the Women's March); or the Inspiration Café (where participants plan a menu, shop for groceries, and prepare and serve a nutritious dinner in a restaurant-style setting for up to 40 individuals who are on their journey toward self-sufficiency.)
