2015 Scarecrow Cabernet Sauvignon
"Produced from 100% Cabernet Sauvignon, the 2015 Cabernet Sauvignon leaps from the glass with gorgeous floral notes of red roses and lilacs over a core of black and red cherries, crushed black currants and baking spices plus hints of iron ore and dusty earth. The voluptuous, rounded, soft and sexy fruit slinks across the palate with incredible seamlessness and expression. Make no mistake, it is full-bodied and decadently powerful, but with a myriad of aromatic nuances, finishing long, layered and boldly perfumed." 99 points, Robert Park
2015 Pinot Noir Little Hill Block and Sweetwater Block. Because of the diverse terroir in Rochioli's vineyards, they are able to produce distinctly different wines from the same varietal by keeping each plot separate throughout the winemaking process. For Single Vineyard Estate wines they hand-select the highest quality grapes in each vineyard site and produce small quantities of wine in this way. These wines are only available on a limited basis to customers who are on 'The List'.
Pride Mountain Vineyards 2015 Reserve Claret and 2015 Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon. Pride's 83 vineyard acres drape across the gentle rolling crest of the Mayacamas Mountains some 2000 feet above the floor of the Napa Valley. Being on the mountaintop provides many of the vines with desirable southern exposures, which is unique for a Spring Mountain property. The elevation also puts the vines above the morning fog that often blankets the Sonoma and Napa Valleys, with the result that the vines are bathed in sunshine from dawn to dusk.
2014 Schrader Cellars Cabernet Sauvignon LPV Beckstoffer Las Piedras Vineyard
"The 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon LPV is from clone 337 from the Las Piedras Vineyard in St. Helena. This shows Mission Haut-Brion-like characteristics as it has in the past, with crushed rock, wet gravel, scorched earth, blackberry and blueberry fruit. It is clearly one of my favorites of this entire tasting. It has 14.5% natural alcohol and was aged in 90% new Darnajou and 10% new Taransaud barrels. This is a killer effort." 99 points, Robert Parker
2015 Kosta Browne Pinot Noir Gap's Crown Vineyard. Stunning aromas of blueberry, blackberry, lavender and ripe strawberry. Full body with super fine tannins that are compressed and extremely long. 2015 Kosta Browne Pinot Noir Keefer Ranch. Very aromatic with blueberry and blackberry on the nose. Full to medium body, tight and linear. Racy and so fine. Tangy acidity with structure and a long finish.
2015 Brand Proprietary Blend Napa Valley
The deep garnet-purple colored 2015 Proprietary Red Estate has a gorgeous perfume with floral notes of roses and violets over a core of cassis, black berries and black cherries with touches of herbs, tar and earth. Full-bodied, rich and concentrated, it's firmly structured and fresh with grainy tannins, finishing long and lively. 98 points, Robert Parker
2014 Quilceda Creek Cabernet Sauvignon
"The 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon is another tour de force from this estate that's reminiscent of first growth Bordeaux from a vintage like 2009. Made from 100% Cabernet Sauvignon and aged in new barrels, it offers incredible notes of blackcurrants, graphite, lead pencil shavings and crushed rocks in a full-bodied, decadent, insanely layered and seamless style. This beauty possesses ultra-fine tannin, no hard edges and a forward, already hard to resist style, yet it's going to keep for more than two decades."
2015 Cade Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon Howell Mountain
The wine has aromas of cherry, strawberry jam, raspberry coulis, vanilla, cedar, cassis, coffee, chocolate, and a touch of mint. In the palate the wine has a velvety rich mouthfeel with rounded yet robust tannins and structure. There are flavors of toasted pecans, baking spices, blueberry pie, chocolate covered strawberries, anise, graham cracker, and tarragon. This wine is a blend of the best of the vintage and the best Cabernet Sauvignon and Petit Verdot from the Estate. 95 points, Robert Parker
Three bottles of 2014 Belle Glos Pinot Noir Las Alturas Santa Lucia Highlands. "Deep ruby red in color with intriguing aromas of sun-warmed blackberries, ripe plums, with hints of black licorice. A complexity of dark berry fruits unfold on the palate; blackberries and bing cherries along with dark chocolate flavors. Vanilla and cedar oak undertones on the mid-palate further enhance the wine. The overall impression is rich withrefined tannins, firm acidity and explosive layers of ripe fruit."

2012 Occidental SWK Vineyard
Occidental is a Pinot Noir brand established by the celebrated winemaker Steve Kistler, founder and winemaker at Kistler Vineyards. Occidental plans to make a maximum of 7,500 cases annually of Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir. To do that Occidental in 2013 completed a state-of-the-art production facility near Bodega next to the Bodega Headlands Vineyard. Kistler, long admired for his Kistler label Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, has earned extraordinary reviews for his Occidental wines. Robert M. Parker Jr. rated one of the 2012 cuvees at 98 pts and called it "profound?.this wine reminded me of my earlier days in Burgundy tasting the Grand Cru Musigny."
2012 Occidental Occidental Station Vineyard Cuvee Catherine
96 points Vinous: "2012 is the second vintage for Steve Kistler's personal project. The 2012 Pinot Noir Occidental Station Cuvée Catherine represents 1,000 cases, aged in about 30% new oak. Beautiful strawberry, red cherry and blueberry notes jump from the glass of this dark ruby wine. Attractive aromatics are followed by a medium-bodied, luscious wine with elegance, minerality, and plenty of blue and red fruits, good acidity and a long, long finish. This beauty can be drunk over the next 5-10 years. Steve Kistler's new Pinot Noir project from his 65 acres in the very cool-climate of the Sonoma Coast area is starting off with enormous potential and promise. These wines are primarily made from the Calera clone of Pinot Noir. He is able to achieve terrific ripeness and relatively low brix numbers, so alcohol-phobes among readers will be pleased to know that the alcohols of these wines run in the low range, between 13.6 to 14.2, yet the wines are very powerful, rich, concentrated and intense. 2015 Rombauer Carneros Chardonnay Magnum
Golden yellow color with a pale hue. Seductive aromas of peach, melon and citrus are balanced with honeysuckle and vanilla. On the palate, flavors of pears, peaches and melons are backed with lively acidity. A nice touch of vanilla-scented oak provides an added flavor dimension. The creamy palate has a lingering finish of melon and citrus fruit with a satisfying buttery complexity.
Our favorite pairing for this wine includes scallops in a cream sauce, pasta carbonara, chicken risotto and Cornish game hen.
2012 Lail Vineyards J. Daniel Cuvee Cabernet Sauvignon
Vintage 2012 has been regarded by all of the specialists as the perfect season. Personally, it has always been so difficult to chant about perfection, but tasting 2012 is nothing else but pure 'deliciousness' with flavors that excite your senses and a mouth-feel that makes you feel invincible...what a beast.
Absolutely perfect and one of the monumental wines of my long tasting trip in Napa is the 2012 Cabernet Sauvignon J. Daniel Cuvee. I didn't see this from barrel last year. Aged 20 months in 75% new French oak and representing 100% Cabernet Sauvignon from three vineyard sources: one in Calistoga, one in Oakville and one in Howell Mountain. Robin Lail and winemaker Philippe Melka hit pay dirt with a wine that has an inky purple color, an almost amazing bouquet that reminded me of 1989 Chateau Montrose when it was young. Sweet almost truffle-infused earth, graphite, forest floor, blackcurrant and black cherry notes are followed by a full-bodied wine with a hint of mocha and licorice. Superb purity, an incremental, yet full-bodied mouthfeel, and an extravagant, layered texture and finish make for the finest wine Robin Lail has produced to date at her winery. Drink it over the next 25-35 years.
Robert Parker, October 2014
2011 Lail Vineyards J. Daniel Cuvee Cabernet Sauvignon
Lail's flagship wine, the 2011 Cabernet Sauvignon John Daniel Cuvee, is another rich, extroverted offering. Mocha, plums, chocolate, cloves, licorice and spices all emerge from a surprisingly big, full-bodied Cabernet Sauvignon. The 2011 is explosive, rich and intense, with equally imposing tannins that are going to need at least a few years to settle down. This is an impressive showing from Lail. The John Daniel Cuvee is built on a core of fruit from Heimark, plus Mole Hill and Vine Hill Ranch.
Made in a much lighter style, the 2011 Cabernet Sauvignon J. Daniel Cuvee is 100% Cabernet Sauvignon aged 18 months in French oak. It offers up notes of cedarwood, tobacco leaf, underbrush and red and black currants. Medium-bodied with soft tannin and low acidity, it will need to be drunk over the next 7-8 years.
The Antinori family's winemaking history is a narrative that spans more than 600 years and two continents. Piero Antinori named this wine A3 in appreciation of his three daughters: Albiera, Allegra and Alessia, the 26th generation of winemakers in this family.
2005 Antica Antinori Family Estate Cabernet Sauvignon
The fruit for this delicious 100% Cabernet Sauvignon was sourced from a single block at the highest elevations of our Napa Valley estate atop Atlas Peak to show the purest varietal expression of mountain-grown Cabernet.
A stylish Cabernet Sauvignon from the Antinori outpost in Napa Valley, this wine has a dark plum ruby/purple color with notes of licorice, blackcurrants, forest floor and earth. It is medium to full-bodied with soft tannins and seems close to full maturity. Certainly its freshness and overall level of intensity suggest it should continue to drink nicely for another 8-12 years. (RP) (6/2015)
2014 Antica Antinori Family Estate Chardonnay
The elegance of the Antica Napa Valley 2014 Chardonnay is obvious in its crisp, orange blossom, fresh pear, mineral-laced, medium bodied style. This wine has superb aromatic presence with impressive purity of fruit. This is a lovely, delicately oaked, flavorful Chardonnay.
"The 2014 is a relatively complex style of Chardonnay from Antinori, with subtle notes of hazelnut and butterscotch that recall some of the older styles of California Chardonnay from the 1970s. The wine offers good acidity, fresh citrus in the mouth, a subtle dosage of oak and a good finish. Drink it over the next 3-4 years." - Robert M. Parker, Jr. (30th Dec 2015)
2012 Vineyard Seven and Eight Chardonnay
The 2012 "Estate" Chardonnay reminds us how fortunate we are to craft wine from vineyards planted on our estate over thirty years ago. The vintage, already being hailed as one of Napa Valley's finest, brings forth a wine with a harmonious balance between density and brightness; satisfying with depth and power. Fresh, focused, structured: this wine is already showing beautifully and can be enjoyed now, as well as successfully cellared for many years to come.
The beautiful 2012 Chardonnay Estate exhibits a light straw color with green tints. Honeysuckle, white peach, tangerine oil and lemon blossom characteristics are present in the complex set of aromatics. The wine is medium to full-bodied, layered, rich and impressive. Enjoy it over the next 5-6 years.
2013 Vineyard Seven and Eight Cabernet Sauvignon
The 2013 Estate Cabernet Sauvignon marks the 7th vintage crafting this single vineyard proprietary wine from the Steffens' family property on Spring Mountain. This wine shows a deep, dark opague core, with a classic Bordeaux-like ruby rim. On the nose, the wine expresses dark cocoa, anise, fresh tobacco and black pepper. Bright acidity leads the palate to a well integrated, seamless texure, marked by savory influences of game, smoked meat, with subtle fruit and mineral undertones. A blend completed my Winemaker Martha McClellan and Wesley Steffens, this wine shows incredibly well with a quick decant, and will reward patience with time in the cellar.
The 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon Estate is a big boy (15.1% alcohol) and there are 725 cases. It is 100% Cabernet Sauvignon and shows the high-elevation, chocolaty, ripe blackcurrant fruit that one expects in mountain Cabernet, with good acidity, ripe tannin and a long, heady, rich finish. It is full-bodied and should drink nicely for at least two decades.
Veuve Clicquot Brut Champagne
The new release of Veuve Clicquot's 'Yellow Label' bottling of non-vintage Brut is approximately a blend of fifty percent Pinot Noir, twenty percent Pinot Meunier and thirty percent Chardonnay. The wine offers up a bright and precise bouquet of lemon, apple, bread dough, a nice touch of minerality and a topnote of dried flowers. On the palate the wine is crisp, full-bodied and nicely balanced, with a good core, pinpoint bubbles, good backend mineral drive and a long, brisk and focused finish. This is not the most complex non-vintage Brut on the market, but it has moved up dramatically in quality from where it was ten years ago and is a harbinger of even better things to come from this Grand Maison in the not too distant future. (Drink between 2017-2030)
Tattinger Brut Champagne
Taittinger Brut La Francaise Champagne is a blend of pinot noir, pinot meunier and a higher proportion of chardonnay grapes than most champagnes. Taittinger Brut La Francaise Champagne has aromas of brioche and fruit on the nose.
Nicolas Feuillatte Demi-Sec Rose Champagne
This attractive Rosé is dry and slightly sweet with notes of red fruit. Cherry and raspberry flavors lead in to a beautifully balanced palate.
Blend: 60% Pinot Noir, 30% Meunier, 10% Chardonnay
2013 Silver Oak Anderson Valley Cabernet Sauvignon
The 2013 Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon is dark ruby in color and entices you with a nose of raspberry, cassis and loose pipe tobacco. This full-bodied wine has an assertively silky structure and is notably spicy on the palate. Flavors of sage and blackberry mark the wine's entry. The strong acidity in the mid-palate is followed by a lingering finish. Given proper cellaring, this wine will provide drinking pleasure through 2038.
The 2013 Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon is comprised of 79% Cabernet Sauvignon, 15% Merlot, 3% Cabernet Franc and 3% Petit Verdot.
The 2013 Silver Oak Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon, with the potential to be the winery's best ever, is seamless, rewarding, and a standout. At first sniff, this wine shows black fruit and cedar notes. With aeration, its aromatics blossom and springs forth with a delightful array of savory spices. Invite a few wine friends and pair this wine with a thick, rare slice of prime rib and enjoy the wine and food synergy. ((Tasted: January 17, 2018, San Francisco, CA USA)
2014 Raymond Cabernet Sauvignon
"The 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve 40th Anniversary...has a dense bluish purple color, a sweet kiss of creme de cassis, licorice, camphor and subtle toast. Relatively opulent on the attack and midpalate, the wine is medium to full-bodied with silky tannin."
Enjoy two bottles of the 2003 Blankiet Estate Cabernet Sauvignon!
Blankiet Estate is an estate in the foothills of the Mayacamas Mountains near Yountville, in Napa Valley. Founded in 1996 by Claude Blankiet, a businessman and a native of Dijon, France, and his wife Katherine, the estate was founded to make Bordeaux-style blends. Blankiet's first winemakers were Helen Turley and John Wetlaufer. Seven years later Martha McClellan came winemaker, with consultation from Michel Rolland. Today the winemaker is Denis Malbec, formerly cellar master at Chateau Latour. Blankiet makes two flagship wines: Blankiet Estate, predominantly Cabernet Sauvignon, and Rive Droite, a Saint-Emilion style Merlot-based blend. Robert M. Parker Jr. has written that Blankiet's wines are "world class, combining the extraordinary power of the site with unbelievable elegance and definition."
