The solid, cherry benchtop is made from reclaimed portions of the school's second-floor library shelving units, which were disposed of two years ago to make room for the current middle- and high-school math department. The oils, stains, paint, and finishing techniques are all designed to give this reclaimed bench the look and texture of a weather-tested antique.
