Traditionally held at TCF Center, this year's physical SOCK (Support Our Capuchin Kitchen) Dinner will be replaced with a SOCK Telethon and virtual auction. The SOCK Telethon will air October 1, 2020 on WDIV (channel 4) from 6 am to 8 pm.

Please consider joining many of our longtime friends who are contributing to the donation match that will be announced during the SOCK Telethon. We would be most grateful for your continued support of our very important mission of helping those in need.

As part of the SOCK Telethon, we will also host a virtual auction. Early bidding starts September 17th!  This gives you an opportunity to bid on amazing auction items and support the work of the Capuchin Soup Kitchen!

SOCK (Support our Capuchin Kitchen) is our signature fundraising event, and is an important source of funds for the programs and services of the Capuchin Soup Kitchen and the Capuchin Province of St. Joseph. The Capuchin Soup Kitchen traces its origins back to 1929 and as you probably know, we feed hundreds of people every day at our two soup kitchens. We provide showers and a change of clothing to many others. We tutor children, offer substance abuse counseling services, and operate an urban farm. We provide training in baking techniques and life skills to formerly incarcerated men. And we sponsor a training program for people seeking to become employed in the field of urban agriculture.

Our theme for the SOCK Telethon is, "Be A Friend".  This is appropriate, as the many people who come to the Capuchin Soup Kitchen seeking assistance find an abundance of friends here.   Your participation in SOCK makes a statement that you, too, are a friend to the Soup Kitchen and those we serve-feeding bodies, nourishing spirits, and strengthening communities.

Thank you in advance for your consideration. I am grateful, knowing that with your help we will be able to continue serving great numbers of people.

Sincerely,

Br. Jerry Johnson, OFM Cap.
