This part-shade container garden in a black, ribbed planter made of plastic, so it can be left outside all winter. Features the following plants:

Add this very unique bog planter to your home! Contains a variety of pitcher plants that were formerly housed in the Olbrich Gardens Conservatory. The plants are in sphagnum and surrounded by drift wood.

Pitcher plants prefer full sun and damp conditions. Water plants with rainwater or distilled water. Fertilizing the plants is unnecessary; they get nutrients from digested insects. Store container in a bright, cold place that stays above freezing during winter dormancy.

This Bromeliad (Nidularium rutilans) has a nest of vibrant leaf rosettes.

The large woody plants are bay laurel - use the fresh or dried bay leaves in your favorite recipes. (Fun fact: The crowns granted to the original Greek Olympians were woven of bay laurel! Our horticulturist suggests naming the two laurels Romulus and Remus!) The bay laurel respond well to pruning, especially in the spring to establish a nice shape, and can be overwintered in a sunny location indoors. Black mondo grass (Ophiopogon nigrescens) and 'Pomegranate Punch' million bells complete the scene - give these pots plenty of sun, regularly moist with watering two to three times a week (more in summer heat), and fertilize with a liquid fertilizer two or three times in the summer.

Ficus petiolaris, commonly known as the petiolate fig and rock fig, is a fig that is endemic to Mexico from Baja California and Sonora south to Oaxaca.

Keep in full sun and water when soil feels dry.

Ficus triangularis 'variegata' has distinctive triangle foliage with irregular yellowish-white edges, with shades of green sections in the center.

A Ficus Lyrata, or as it's commonly called a Fiddle Leaf Fig plant, has large wide leathery leaves that resemble a violin or fiddle. These dark green hard leaves are over a foot in length and grow on woody stems. The Ficus lyrata, native to Australia, Melanesia, and Southern Asia, is one of the easier ficus trees to care for.
