As young lady, I have never felt such extreme pressure to fall into society's definition of pretty. "Unwritten" was designed to show the brokenness I felt after I altered everything that made me unique. The pressure from media is constantly surrounding us. Revelation is about the journey I am taking to love myself. I had a sense of empowerment when I finally created it because I no longer felt trapped in my mind. LEVITICUS 11:10" by Victoria Shapow Digital Photography 19" x 23" "Leviticus 11:10" is a 16"x 20" Leviticus is a photo book illustrating 12 of the laws of Leviticus in the Bible that surround the law banning homosexuality. This piece illustrates the law that says we are not allowed to eat or touch any seafood without fins or scales. My goal in creating this book is that people will realize the hypocrisy in their religious reasoning behind denying people basic rights because of their sexual orientation. Visiting my father's and my favorite photography spot, I was reminded of a photo my father once took: waves crashing up against the lighthouse, puffy clouds, grey skies and a bit of uncertainty because you didn't know if it was going to downpour or not. Recently, I lost my father and believe me it is not easy losing your best friend and your father. But, that day, I felt my father's presence. I had pictured the photo he took in my head and immediately ran out onto the pier as far out towards the lighthouse that I could possibly go, I was soaked when I was done. This photo was the one that reminded me most of the one my father took.
