Remember strolling along the Seine, listening to a concert at La Sainte Chapelle, or being enchanted by the immense beautify of the artwork in the Louvre? Take home a celebration of the arts of Paris with this Jean-Baptiste Huet engraving that was purchased at the Louvre. This beautifully framed copperplate print, "Trois amours avec les attributs des arts," shows three plump cherubs gathered around a canvas; one with paintbrush in hand. This etching was printed with a red-brown sepia ink to convey a sense of visual warmth. The "putti," or, naked children, are often found in classical paintings. The engraving from which the piece was printed is the work of Pequegnot Auguste (1819-1878), who engraved many paintings of the Masters. Jean-Baptist Marie Huet (Paris, Oct. 1745 to January 1811, was associated with pastoral and genre scenes of animals in the Rococo manner and was influenced by painter Francois Boucher. Made possible by John and Lynnet Vandenberg.
