Barium Blue Ceramic Piece

Harker chemistry teacher Andrew Irvine explores the intersection of science and art in his sculpture and is known for the use of a variety of unusual chemicals in his clay body and glaze recipes, creating dynamic, otherworldly pieces whose appearance changes depending on the light. These ceramic wall pieces are made with non-toxic glazes and are intended to be displayed on a wall only. The unique colors come from a combination of lithium, barium and copper in a low fire glaze medium. This piece was featured in Andrew's featured artist show in September 2015.

Estimated Value: $250
