2023 HONOREE: MARV WILLIAMS
Marv Williams retired from the Los Angeles City Fire Department in 2011 after serving thirty-five years, twenty-five years as a Captain. He served as treasurer for the Board of Directors of the Fire Family Foundation for six years. Marv serves as the National Secretary of the Fire Velo Cycling club. A nonprofit organization that participates in national cycling events and raises money for fire-serviced based groups and causes. As part of Fire Velo, Marv has cycled over 3,300 miles from Santa Monica to the National September 11 Memorial in New York City twice. He has also cycled over 500 miles from San Francisco to Los Angeles 6 times. Marv has also been a member of the Firefighters First Credit Union Board of Directors since 1981. He currently serves on the Strategic Planning Committee and the Finance/Risk Committee.
In 2022 Marv was diagnosed and received treatment for breast cancer. He is doing well and is receiving ongoing treatment. Marv earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from California State University at Northridge. He and Judy, his wife, have 2 children and 1 grandchild. In addition to cycling and his board service, in his spare time, he enjoys hiking and reading.
