2019 1.5-liter magnum of Dalla Valle Vineyards Oakville Cabernet Sauvignon

This legendary duo of Oakville Appellation wines from Napa Valley begins in western Oakville featuring Robert Mondavi Winery's iconic "The Reserve" from the revered To Kalon Vineyard in a rare large format 3-liter double magnum etched bottle signed by recently appointed Director of Winemaking Kurtis Ogasawara, a sansei from Sunnyvale in the Bay Area mentored by retiring Genevieve Janssens who has been directing winemaking at Robert Mondavi Winery for the last 26 years. This 96+ rated 2016 vintage by the Wine Advocate is a harmonious blend of 91% Cabernet Sauvignon, 7% Cabernet Franc and 2% Petit Verdot.

Over to the eastern slopes of the Oakville AVA lies Dalla Valle Vineyards, one of the original California "cult wines" from the 1990s. This 1.5-liter magnum of Dalla Valle Vineyards Cabernet Sauvignon was produced and signed by the Nikkei mother-and-daughter team of Naoko and Maya Dalla Valle, who work alongside an all-star team that includes consulting winemaker Andy Erickson and consulting enologist Michel Rolland. This 2019 vintage limited magnum is a multi-layered blend of 77% Cabernet Sauvignon and 23% Cabernet Franc garnering a 98+ rating from the Wine Advocate.
