Dear Friends:

What if thousands of people with physical, developmental or mental health disabilities relied on you every day in order to live safely in their own homes?

In many ways they do.

It's your continued support of Family & Children's Service (FCS) that ensures we are here to assist the most vulnerable people in our community by helping to strengthen, protect and preserve their dignity.

While our programs have evolved over the past 114 years in response to community need, our mission has remained constant:

FCS provides compassionate care, intervention and education to people during challenging times in
their lives … people like Debbie…

Debbie has used crutches her entire life. Diagnosed with congenital muscular deformity as a child in the 1950's, her mother was told her chance of survival was slim. She persevered. Determined to have a "regular life", Debbie tells stories of the rock concerts and road trips she enjoyed in her youth. Now confined to a hospital bed in her Debbie looks forward to the weekly visits from her sister but cannot help but feel like a burden to her. FCS provides Debbie with 15 hours a week of home health aide services to address her basic needs and she reports that her aide visits through snow, storms, and even during holidays if needed. Despite her circumstance, Debbie is full of charisma! FCS set her up with a "Telefriend" who calls weekly, and Debbie now considers them a close friend. Debbie feels less of an obligation to her sister by having another person to spend time with, and this independence is something she has not felt in the many years. FCS has allowed Debbie to stay comfortable in her own home and has increased her quality of life.

FCS has been a reliable and trusted resource for generations of Monmouth County residents. We connect children, families and seniors with programs that help them remain safely at home.

Our efforts support caregivers, prevent homelessness, and promote childhood well-being.

We are so grateful for your past generosity and ask for your continued philanthropic support to help thousands of people like Debbie live on their own. Your gift helps FCS to both sustain and create services that directly impact people in need throughout Monmouth, Middlesex and Mercer Counties. Whatever amount you are able to give, is very much appreciated.
