Auction Policies and Procedures
Real time bidding will be available online only starting on Tuesday, November 1, 2022, and ending on Friday, November 11, 2022. Notifications will be sent via text message.
1. All bidding on Silent and Super Silent Items will be done virtually and only via the online bidding platform GiveSmart from November 1, 2022, through November 11, 2022. All bidding on Live Auction items can only be done by attendees of the Gala.
2. JBF Staff will be in touch with winners immediately after the close on November 11. The Foundation requests that auction winners provide the courtesy of paying within 48 hours for a swift coordination of final arrangements. Winners will be contacted by Nicholas Piccora, General Fundraising Manager, and Angela Yang, Development Coordinator, for fulfilment instructions. Some auction lots will be physical items, (e.g., physical certificate, or a package) and shipping arrangements will be made with winners after the event. All other items will be handled over email.
3. For any auction lots in the Wines & Spirits category, bidders must be 21+ to bid and winners in this category must be 21+ to receive delivery.
4. Carefully read all Auction Lots. All packages expire one year from auction date unless otherwise specified. All hotel accommodations and travel reservations are subject to space availability. Blackout dates may apply. All packages that are experiences require advance reservations, are subject to blackout dates and special conditions as noted, and typically expire one year after the auction close, or fall 2023.
5. All prizes have been donated. Every effort has been made to describe packages as accurately as possible based on the donor's description. The James Beard Foundation bears no responsibility should any item donated be unsatisfactory or should it become invalid due to foreclosures or changes in operations. The James Beard Foundation is not responsible or liable for any personal injury or property damage that may result from an auction package. Once a package has been sold, and JBF has facilitated a connection to the donor, the item or the certificate representing the item, the sole contact is between the purchaser and donor(s).
6. Lots purchased at this auction cannot be sold, bartered, or redeemed for cash.
7. Auction prize packages and confirmed bids are tax deductible to the extent allowed by law. Please consult your accountant for guidelines. The James Beard Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit charitable organization. Tax ID 13-2752108.
