ONLINE AUCTION GUIDELINES
- This online auction is conducted using mobile bidding software, managed by Givesmart, for use on your smartphone, tablet, or computer and is accessed remotely via the Internet.
- All bidders are required to first register on the GiveSmart platform and will receive a personalized link to their profile upon registration completion. This link should not be shared with anyone (excluding spouses/significant others who want to bid under the same profile). Please direct family, friends, and coworkers to our homepage, LHGala2022.givesmart.com, to register themselves if they wish to bid.
- Each incremental bid amount is displayed on the Givesmart bidding system and constitutes a valid bid.
- Each new bid must be entered into the GiveSmart bidding system (or a Max Bid may be set to allow the system to bid on your behalf). Only an authorized person may nullify a bid.
- In the event of a dispute, Laurel House shall act as the final authority and shall determine the winning bidder. The decision shall be final.
- Winning bidders are asked to respect times and restrictions that may be stipulated by donors on certain auction items and not request changes.
- Upon closure of the auction, all winners will receive a text or email notification, as well as a link that settles their balance with the card on file. If you wish to pay using a different method, please contact Andrea Devenney at adevenney@laurel-house.org. If payment has not been received by May 13, 2022, the card on file will be charged.
- Winners who live within a 15-mile radius of the Laurel House Administration office will have their items delivered. Winners must be home for delivery. If the winner would like to pick up their items from the Laurel House Administration office that can be arranged. When permissible, gift cards and certificates will be sent via email or mail. For all other items, the winning bidder will be contacted by Laurel House to arrange payment for shipping and handling.
- If picking up items from the Laurel House Administration Office, you must bring a form of identification to claim your winnings.
*If you are unable to pick up your items and would like someone else to pick your items up for you, you must notify Andrea Devenney at least 24 hours in advance of pick up.
**All winners must be 21 years of age or older to bid on items that contain alcohol. If you are unable to provide proper identification, Laurel House reserves the right to cancel the sale.
**All items that contain alcohol will be pick-up only from the Laurel House Administrative Office with an acceptable form of identification.
CONDITION OF SALE
- Payment must be made in full before the end of the auction on May 12, 2022, by check, VISA, MasterCard, or American Express. All sales are final. No refunds or exchanges. Restrictions on gift certificates are noted, as provided. Gift certificates are not redeemable for cash.
- We will work hard to fulfill all the auction items. However, Laurel House cannot accept liability for any auction purchases that cannot redeemed due to the Coronavirus outbreak and its effects.
- Laurel House reserves the right to add or withdraw items to or from the auction without notice. Laurel House has made the best effort to describe and catalog all items correctly. Laurel House neither warrants nor represents and in no event will be responsible for the correctness of descriptions, genuineness, authorship, provenance, or condition of the items. All items are offered "as is."
- By participating in the auction, each bidder recognizes and agrees that neither Laurel House nor anyone assisting with the auction shall be liable for any loss or damages resulting from the auction because of the use of the auctioned item or services. It is the sole responsibility of the successful bidder to make arrangements regarding mutually agreed dates for use of the item. Under no circumstances will Laurel House, or anyone associated with the auction, be liable for the failure to arrange for use of the item or dissatisfaction with the date finally agreed upon for use of the item.
- We cannot ensure that the business(es) behind your purchase will be open following the current health crisis. While we hope that all of our generous auction donors can return to or continue in business as usual, if your auction purchase cannot be honored by the donor as a result of the Coronavirus outbreak and its effects, we hope that you will allow your contribution to be considered a fully tax-deductible donation.
- Under no circumstances is Laurel House, its employees or its affiliates liable to any party for any direct, indirect, special or other consequential damages for any use of or reliance upon items which were received as the result of a donation or purchase.
- Values outlined in item descriptions are the "fair market value," established to the best of our ability. "The amount of the contribution that is tax-deductible for Federal income tax purposes is limited to the excess of the amount of any money and the value of any property other than money contributed by the donor over the value of the goods or services provided by the organization." Internal Revenue Code [Sec. 6115(a)(1)]
