Bio
Kathryn Mays is a Marketing Engagement Specialist at Print-O-Stat. A 2019 graduate of York College of Pennsylvania, Kathryn majored in Graphic Design, and minored in Marketing, Fine Art, and Art History. Prior to graduation, she studied abroad at Nuova Accademia di Belle Arti (NABA), spending time at Milan Design Week, and traveling through Italy and other parts of Europe. Kathryn also held a graphic design internship role at Print-O-Stat where she closely worked with and assisted the marketing team with concept, design, and execution on various digital, web and print design projects. Following graduation, Kathryn worked in a graphic design and marketing assistant role at a multi-discipline engineering organization. She also held several freelance projects, including designing poster boards for the Annual Maryland Quality Initiative Conference and theatre posters for York College of Pennsylvania's Division of Theatre.
Artist Statement
Kathryn is passionate about visual communication and working on projects that allows her to spread her creative wings. She is excited to be applying her skills in graphic design through the development of digital media. The phrase depicted over the black and white photos is a direct quote from Amanda Gorman's inaugural poem, "The Hill We Climb." This phase inspired Kathryn to show black and white photos of some of the recent protests, overlaid with photos of older protests to illustrate how not much has changed over the decades despite the tragic, unnecessary loss of lives. The black and white photos along with the yellow letters are parallel with the Black Lives Matter Movement.
