It is my pleasure to kick off the "A Time to Give" campaign in the United States, which is an annual employee-led effort to raise money for the communities where we live and work.

I am proud to say that last year, during the height of the coronavirus pandemic, Nordson employees stepped up to provide support for our communities, exemplifying the spirit of giving that our Nord family founders instilled as a core value of our company. While Nordson provided more than $1 million in donations to support COVID relief, the actions and donations of individual employees showcased our true Nordson Impact. Many rose to the challenge by planning or participating in virtual fundraisers, sewing and distributing masks for health workers, sending cards to local retirement homes, ensuring crucial nonprofits in our communities received grants and more.

This year, as the pandemic, natural disasters and civil unrest continue to stretch the resources of our nonprofit partners to their limits, I urge you again to exercise your "giving muscles" - as Evan Nord once said - and support your community. In many areas, inequalities are amplified due to the events of the past year, leaving more families struggling with food resources, education and economic welfare. As you consider donating your time or resources during the A Time to Give campaign, remember that you never know who your contributions could help, like your neighbor, your friend or a child at your local school. While you may not always see the impact you've made, it will be felt by those who are uplifted by your kindness.

To further magnify the positive impact of your contributions, Nordson will match each dollar donated through the options below, or to an eligible nonprofit organization of your choice. Each dollar you pledge will be doubled, and every contribution - no matter the size - makes a difference.

There are several ways that you can get involved:

• Donate to the Nordson Corporation Foundation - Our foundation is a 501(c)(3) organization set up to allow Nordson Corporation and our employees to donate money to qualified nonprofit organizations in the communities where we live and work. Funds are granted to nonprofit organizations based on proposals that are reviewed by local employee-led committees.
• Donate to United Way - Donating to United Way's general fund supports areas focused on education, financial stability and health. Through United Way, you also can designate a donation to a specific nonprofit organization that is meaningful to you.
• Volunteer - Our volunteer teams welcome your support! Donate your time to a planning committee or share an idea for your team's campaign.
• Participate - Your local planning committees will soon share more information about "A Time to Give" activities near you. There will be many ways to give, including online auctions, games and more! I encourage you to use these opportunities to talk with committee members about how your personal contributions impact your community.
