Steven Krutek studied art at Colorado College, the University of Montana (MFA), SALT Institute for Documentary Field Studies, and with photographer Stuart Klipper.

Steven teaches drawing, two-dimensional foundations, photography courses, painting courses, art history courses, and art education courses at the University of Montana. He has also taught elementary and secondary students in various capacities since 1997.

Steven has exhibited work throughout the Inland Northwest and internationally. His work has recently been published on the cover of The Sun Magazine (August 2020). Steven's current work of non-objective paintings and mixed-media pieces reflect on the way we divide up our landscape and how these divisions may be communicated, for better or for worse.

When he isn't teaching, making art, or spending time with his family, Steven performs Balinese music with the Missoula-based community gamelan, Manik Harum.
