This year, we are excited to honor the incredible team at South Shore Neurologic Associates, featuring the physical therapy team. Each provider is equipped with invaluable expertise and knowledge. Both Christina Burke, PT, DPT, NCS and Stacy Trebing, PT have been treating those living with MS for over 20 years. Christina conducted extensive research in MS gait and presented several times at the MS Consortium, while Stacy initiated the MS support group where MS patients could network and listen to educational sessions. Nicole Aquino, DPT assists patients in improving their efficiency with ambulation and strives to assist the MS population in being functionally independent. Physical therapist assistant Susan Modungo spearheaded a free community Pilates program for her patients with MS, focusing on stability and core muscle strength to improve balance and movement and reduction of fatigue. Brian Connell, DPT is specialized in the Bioness L300 Go system, which is a functional electrical stimulation unit designed to assist those with central nervous system pathology with knee instability and foot drop. Stephanie VanShaick, DPT created and hosts a weekly wellness program at SSNA that includes guided meditation and health education, boosting morale, and alleviating the neurological symptoms induced by stress. Stephanie also provides pelvic floor therapy (treatment of bladder, bowel and sexual function) through the use of manual therapy, modalities and individualized programs to assist in improving quality of life and return to desired daily function. Nicholas Froiseth, DPT is a certified specialist in assessment and treatment using Balance Based Body Torso Weighting to improve balance, gait, and mobility for people with MS. Maria Schilling, DPT was the captain of her team for Bike MS in NYC 2019 and treats patients with MS to help them get back to doing what they love. Barbara Williams, PTA is an avid MS fundraiser and performs gait analysis testing, which is a crucial part of SSNA MS comprehensive care.  Last but not least, Heidi Wan, PTA has a flare for motivating patients to achieve their goals and live their best lives.
