Cocktail Recipes
Our Front of House Manager, Trent Wolfred, has put together some special cocktail recipes that are easy to make at home whether you have a fully stocked wet bar with all the trimmings or just want to make something a little special with items you have on hand. These one-of-a-kind lessons will walk you through step by step on your way to bartending superstardom.
Black Pepper Gin & Tonic
Ingredients
Makes one serving:
- Ice
- 2 ounces of gin. Dry gin is preferable but any gin you have will be fine.
- Small bottle of tonic. Just enough to top off the glass.
- Black pepper
- Sliced cucumber for garnish
You should feel free to play around with this drink. You can swap out the black pepper for a different seasoning such as smoked paprika to give it more of a smoky flavor.
Summertime Mocktail
Ingredients
Makes about 4 servings:
For the shrub syrup
- 1 lb of cut fruit (we chose strawberries but you can experiment with anything!)
- Small hunk of fresh grated or finely chopped ginger
- 1 cup of vinegar (we used apple cider vinegar but you can use white vinegar, red wine vinegar, or even balsamic vinegar with stronger fruits such as plums)
This is where you can really experiment with your flavors and let those creative juices flow. Other summertime combinations include Cherry & Mint and Cucumber & Dill.
For the simple syrup
- 1 cup of sugar
- 1 cup of water
For the mocktail
- Large bottle of club soda or tonic
- Sliced strawberry (or whatever fruit you have chosen) as the garnish
Whiskey Sour
Ingredients
Makes one serving:
- 2 ounces of whiskey
- 1 ounce of lemon juice (fresh squeezed is preferred)
- 1 ounce of simple syrup (1 cup water, 1 cup sugar)
- 1 egg white
- Maraschino cherries for option garnish
This is the authentic way of making whiskey sours. If the egg white makes you uncomfortable you can omit this but the drink will not have the creamy foam at the top.
At Home Conversions
We know not everyone has a fully equipped bar at home. We've created a list of some helpful substitutions for creating at home cocktails:
- 1 ounce is equal to 2 tablespoons
- If you don't have a shaker you can use a regular glass and something to stir it with
- If you don't have a juicer, the back of a spoon and a glass works just fine!
