About BBSEF & Snow Summit Race Team

🏔️ Our Mission

The Big Bear Ski Educational Foundation (BBSEF) and the Snow Summit Race Team (SSRT) are dedicated to empowering local youth through high-level competitive alpine ski racing.

Our non-profit program provides young mountain athletes in Big Bear Lake with world-class skill development, professional coaching, and mentorship. Through competitive alpine ski racing, our athletes build athletic excellence, discipline, perseverance, teamwork, and sportsmanship-developing skills that serve them both on and off the mountain.

🎿 Who We Are

For decades, the Snow Summit Race Team (SSRT) has represented the heart of competitive ski racing in Southern California. Managed under the 501(c)(3) non-profit umbrella of the Big Bear Ski Educational Foundation, SSRT serves athletes across multiple age divisions (U8 through U18+).

Our program provides:

  • Professional Coaching & Athletic Development: Expert instruction tailored to every stage of a racer's growth.
  • On-Mountain Training & Home Race Operations: Full race support, timing systems, and course safety infrastructure at Big Bear Mountain Resort.
  • Travel & Competition Opportunities: Supporting athletes as they compete regionally and nationally under U.S.Ski & Snowboard.
  • Need-Based Scholarships: Ensuring that every local child who wants to race has the opportunity to participate, regardless of financial circumstances.

💙 How Your Support Makes a Difference

As a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, BBSEF relies on the generosity of local businesses, community partners, and team families to offset the significant costs of running a premier competitive sports program.

Proceeds raised through the annual Think Snow Gala directly fund:

  • Athlete Scholarships: Removing financial barriers for local families.
  • Safety Gear & Training Equipment: Upgrading safety netting, timing electronics, and training gates.
  • Coaching & Travel Expenses: Helping maintain low registration fees while providing top-tier coaching at home and travel races.
  • Awards & Recognition: Celebrating athlete growth, leadership, and achievements.
