Dan Love

Chair, Development Committee - Member, Board of Advisors

Dan Love grew up in the Kansas City area, earned a Bachelor of Science in Marketing from Kansas State University, and was raised in the Lutheran faith-serving as an Acolyte throughout his teenage years. After marrying Julie on September 3, 1983, he was received into the Catholic Church in 1984. In 1996, Dan moved his family to Libertyville, Illinois to join Medline Industries, where he built a distinguished career before retiring in 2018.

For over 30 years, Dan and Julie have devoted their time, talent, and treasure to both the University of Saint Mary of the Lake and Saint Joseph Parish in Libertyville. At St. Joseph they served in the Bereavement Ministry, RCIA, and helped establish the Sunday 5 p.m. Mass. At USML, they have served as local parents to seminarians from Ecuador and Uganda, offering a home away from home to young men discerning the priesthood. Through the Knights of Columbus, Dan helped expand the Saint Joseph Food Pantry from one day to six days per week, now serving more than 2,000 families monthly, while also raising funds for women's center ultrasound machines, seminarian scholarships, and local nonprofits. In 2017, Mayor Terry Weppler asked Dan if Knights of Columbus Council 3674 could take over Libertyville's Dog Days of Summer-and the Council has been running the event successfully ever since, raising money for local pet rescues, food pantries, and other community nonprofits.

Driven by his conviction that without priests there is no Church, Dan has invested deeply in USML-serving on the Rector's Classic Committee, the Celebration of Mundelein Committee, and now as Chair of the Development Committee and Member of the Board of Advisors. He has also served as a Village of Libertyville Trustee and Board Member of the Libertyville Civic and Senior Center.

Since retiring, Dan has also dedicated resources to help Father Falasiko Matovu-a Uganda seminary graduate-rebuild school classrooms and facilities in his home village. Dan and Julie, married over 43 years, are the proud parents of five-Daniel Jr., Thomas, Patrick, Margaret, and Connor-and the grateful grandparents of six. They reside in Belleair, Florida.
