Keith Klein knew early on he would pursue a career in the camp business.  

After spending his formative years as a camper and counselor in Maine, Keith was introduced to Morry Stein by Charlie Napoli, Morry's co-captain on the Brandeis University football team.   After this chance meeting with Morry at Penn Station and one Echo Lake summer on staff, together they decided "camp" was the business for Keith. Morry put Keith on a six-year intern program to learn all aspects of the camp business. And in true Morry fashion, six years later - in 1994 - Keith, along with Morry and Amy,  purchased Camp Laurel in Readfield, Maine with Keith as the Director.

Thirty days after purchasing the camp, Morry was tragically killed in a commercial airline crash.  While Amy and her sons turned their focus squarely on Echo Lake, Keith refinanced with a local Mane bank and became the sole owner of Camp Laurel.

After Keith's first summer, he hired Jem Sollinger, a former Laurel camper and counselor, and together they built Laurel into the largest full-season co-ed camp in New England. Jem became Keith's business partner at Camp Laurel in 1998. Debbie Sollinger, Jem's wife, joined as a partner and director in 2001. 

In 1998, Keith and Jem purchased Laurel South in Casco, Maine and The Laurel Camps were born.

Beginning in 1999 and to this day, Keith has developed and nurtured relationships that have allowed him to purchase and partner with 16 other camp directors in the Northeast who own and operate 12 resident and day camps in Maine, Pennsylvania, New York, Connecticut and New Jersey.

In addition to their ownership interests, Keith and Jem previously operated the Cal Ripken Fantasy Baseball camps in Scottsdale, Arizona and Palm Beach, Florida. And in 2024, Keith and Jem, along with Laurel South Camp Directors Crimson and Drew Gallagher, partnered with the Aman brand to operate Family and Kid programs at select Aman properties throughout the world.

Keith has been an active member of the American Camp Association, having served as Board Member of the New York Section and Program Chair of the Tri-State Camp Conference. He is a member of several other regional camp organizations, is a founding board member of the Maine Camp Experience, and speaks regularly at industry conferences. He is  an active participant in Project Morry, SCOPE and a former Board Member of the Foundation for Jewish Camp.

Keith is most proud of his relationships with his 18 business partners, all of whom he considers lifelong friends.
