For over a half-century and counting, William J. Locher has cemented his legacy in the local community not only through his work in the banking industry, but in his concentration of local initiatives.

Bill is a life-long resident of Johnstown, and embarked on his long 51-year banking career upon graduation from Johnstown High School in 1975. At U.S. National Bank (now Ameriserv Financial) Locher began his journey in the industry as a supply room clerk. Throughout his 20 years at the bank, Bill continued to advance and excel in positions of heightened responsibility, eventually earning the title of Senior Vice President and Department Head of Commercial Lending. In 1995, he joined Cenwest National Bank (First Commonwealth) before taking an opportunity at TriState Capital Bank in Pittsburgh. Locher joined Somerset Trust Company in 2007, where he currently serves as Senior Vice President of Commercial Lending. He was recognized last year at the Pennsylvania Banker's Annual Conference for his 50 years of service in the banking industry. Locher is a graduate of Saint Francis University and the American Bankers Association's Stonier Graduate School of Banking.

A man dedicated to the advancement of Johnstown, one of Bill's first community service initiatives was volunteering as a Junior Achievement Advisor to our local high school students. Later, Locher served on the board of several other non-profit organizations such as Goodwill of the Southern Alleghenies, Inc., the Learning Lamp, Lee Initiatives, Lee Initiatives Foundation and the Talus Rock Girl Scouts, having received their coveted Community Service Award in 2000. Bill's other previous board positions include the Johnstown Industrial Development Corporation and Johnstown Regional Industries; Locher served as JARI's Chairman from 2020 to 2024.

Since 2003, Bill has been affiliated with the Johnstown Symphony Orchestra and is currently serving as their Board President for the third time. Locher is also a board member of the Center for Metal Arts and the Greater Johnstown Regional Partnership, representing Somerset Trust. He is a long-standing member of the Johnstown Rotary Club and a Rotary International Paul Harris Fellow. Bill is also proud to be an active member of West Hills Community Church in Westmont.

Additionally, Locher has served as co-chair of the Pasquerilla Performing Arts Center 25th Anniversary concert celebration and chair of UPJ's Blackington Endowment Winter Jazz Series.

Bill resides in Westmont with his wife Stacey, and is the proud father of Brandon and Olivia Locher and step-son Ian Miscoe.
