ABOUT MORE THAN A BOUT
Thank you for joining us at the 2026 Guns N Hoses Charity Boxing event! Kansas City Guns N Hoses is a "RED" vs. "BLUE" charity boxing event that brings Firefighters, EMTs, and Law Enforcement together to raise funds for the programs of the Kansas City Metropolitan Crime Commission, primarily the SAFE program.
Since 2003, SAFE (Surviving Spouse and Family Endowment) has been completely supported through private donations and fundraising events. Tonight's important gathering honors our fallen but is also the primary method of raising funds to support the families of First Responders who are killed or suffer career-ending injuries in the line-of-duty. We hope everyone who attends will have a good time supporting this great cause.
IMMEDIATE FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE
One of the most important aspects of SAFE is the immediate financial assistance provided within 24-48 hours following the tragic loss of a First Responder in SAFE's 13-county coverage area. Now welcoming Pettis County to that SAFE Coverage. Often, insurance and other benefits can take weeks or even months to pay while the financial responsibilities for the family do not stop.
It is because of the incredible generosity of our donors, sponsors, and supporters, that Guns N Hoses has continued to grow. This success has enhanced our ability to provide greater financial assistance to our SAFE families, with the benefit being raised to $40,000 in 2025! Your generosity has aided SAFE in providing over $1M in immediate financial support to families following a line-of-duty death and for ongoing holiday benefits, as well as over $100,000 in scholarships for First Responder children.
WHY WE'RE HERE
Sadly, we continue to suffer the death of First Responders in our local communities. Since we were last together at Guns N Hoses in 2025, we've lost two of Kansas City's finest.
On July 26th, 2025 Wyandotte County Sheriff's Deputy Ming and a Kansas City Police officer were assisting a woman with a civil standby to move her belongings from a residence after she reported being threatened by a man with a gun. As they approached the front door, the suspect, opened fire from inside, striking Deputy Ming.
On August 26, 2025 Kansas City, KS Police Officer Hunter Simoncic was killed in the line of duty while deploying stop sticks on State Avenue in an effort to stop a driver who was fleeing law enforcement, when an armed suspect fatally struck Officer Simoncic with a car as the suspect was trying to evade law enforcement.
Please keep all First Responders and their families in your thoughts and prayers. Our communities owe them a debt of gratitude for their service and sacrifice.
