Meet Marilla


Marilla joined the Military Women's Memorial Foundation in March 1997 as the Director, Public Relations and Development, and served in that capacity until June 2021 when she assumed her current position as Senior Advisor to the President. She provides overall advice and assistance to the President on all issues related to the operation of the Foundation and Memorial.

A 25-year Army veteran, her assignments included Special Assistant for Public Affairs to the Chairman, Joint Chiefs of Staff; Chief Media Inquiries, Department of the Army; Chief, Public Affairs Plans and Policy Division, US Army Europe; Executive Director, Defense Secretary's Defense Advisory Committee on Women in the Services; and Program Manager, Advertising and Sales Promotion, for the Army's "Be All You Can Be" Campaign. She is a graduate of the Army's Command and General Staff College and the University of Maine with a BS in education and attended graduate school at the University of Kansas.
